SUMMARY

Performs a variety of secretarial services and provides administrative support within Academic Affairs.  Assists with coordination of various clerical activities and projects as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

Provides confidential secretarial support as needed for the Assistant Dean for Curriculum, Assistant Dean for Clinical Education and for educational activities within Academic Affairs.

Schedules all appointments and oversees daily calendar for the Assistant Dean for Curriculum.   Coordinates and arranges meetings, reserves and prepares facilities. 

Acts as back up support for traditional curriculum coordinator, assisting with course and facilitator scheduling and disseminating information to students.   

Proctors examinations for the department as necessary.

Handles student locker key collection and distribution for each medical school class.

Performs special projects for the Assistant Deans and the Director of Academic Affairs as required.

Reviews, sorts and routes incoming and outgoing correspondence for the Academic Affairs Suite.

Answers telephone calls for the office.  Participates in the coverage schedule of the department as necessary.

Provides direct customer service to students, applicants, and other visitors to Academic Affairs.

Understands and adheres to Rowan University’s compliance standards as they appear in the Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.

Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Graduation from an accredited program in secretarial studies plus three (3) years of full-time secretarial experience is required.  An additional year of experience is required in lieu of secretarial program.  Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office is required.  Experience with additional software products as required by the department is preferred.  Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) preferred.  College credits may be substituted on a year- for-year basis for secretarial experience.  Up to sixty (60) credits may be substituted for two years of secretarial experience.
