Responsible for coordinating the creation, launch and ongoing development of college websites. Work directly with offices and academic departments in applying a user-oriented perspective in the design, architecture and development of websites; source, prepare and optimize content for use on websites; perform navigation, accessibility and browser compatibility checks; and develop and maintain dynamic forms and other web-based applications.

Program and Project Management: Serve as primary point of contact between College Relations, ITS and external vendors. Take primary responsibility for assisting and advising college offices and departments in development of new websites and redevelopment of existing sites and serve as primary contact for such work. Respond to client and user inquiries, comments and suggestions; assist clients and users with web design and development applications. Build consensus with stakeholders on functional enhancements. Coordinate internal resources and third-party vendors to develop project scopes and objectives. Develop and maintain detailed project plans to track progress and keep internal staff and client offices up to date on progress. Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.

Web Production/Design: In consultation with clients and web team, assist in the development of the design and information architecture for the college's website, following college standards for design and content. Work closely and collaboratively with the digital content specialist to source, prepare and optimize content (text, images, multimedia) for use on websites; perform navigation, accessibility and browser compatibility checks; and develop and maintain Drupal forms.

Work with associate vice president to develop new web strategies and development and expansion of Smith standard web designs. Respond to a variety of web-related requests across academic and key administrative departments, including handling user accounts and permissions. Communicate to clients the importance of a unified, cohesive and accessible site architecture and brand.

Content Maintenance: Refresh content on academic and administrative sites with submissions from various areas of the college; monitor pages for outdated material, broken links and compliance with policies on standards and accessibility; provide assistance to web team members.

Supervision: Supervise the Web Development and Design Specialist and ensure that all work is performed in alignment with defined technical standards and oversight provided by the web team's technical partner.

Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five to seven years of relevant experience including project management, web site administration, development, design and web accessibility analysis in a Drupal environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with assistive technologies and with accessibility standards and guidelines.

Skills: Strong written and oral communication and graphic design skills; positive customer service orientation; strong organizational skills; knowledge of disability law including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act; experience coordinating and delivering training events. Able to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Candidates should have a good mix of design, technical and interpersonal skills. Hands-on experience in creating and maintaining Web pages is essential. Good writing skills and ability to work with range of people in a higher education environment strongly preferred.
