Job Description:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty listed below. Reasonable accommodations will be made for disabled persons, covered by the Americans with Disabilities Act, in accordance with its requirements.

Duties are numbered for convenience, and do not indicate order in terms of importance, frequency that the duty is performed, or the amount of time spent on the duty.

1. Greets all who enter the Disability Services Testing Center. Delivers excellent customer service and provide students, faculty, adjuncts, and staff with a secure, comfortable and accessible environment. Keeps distractions to a minimum during testing appointments. Must be aware and able to conform to the proper etiquette for all individuals with a disability.

2. Provides accommodation assistance for students with a disability. Administers and monitors a variety of academic tests and specialized tests for the students with disabilities within the guidelines provided by instructors and external certification providers. Some of these tests include, but are not limited to: ASSET, HESI, TEAS-V, TEAS-AH, ServSafe, ESCO, and ESL Compass. Collaborates with CSCC Community & Professional Testing Center to proctor accommodated tests for students taking courses at outside institutions.

3. Answers student, faculty, adjunct, and staff inquiries and makes referrals to other campus resources as appropriate.

4. Must record the receipt and distribution of tests, proctor tests, and maintain academic integrity of tests at all times. Performs testing related duties that include, but are not limited to:

o Scribes (writing for students that are unable to write/type independently)

o Reading tests aloud for students (that have print related disabilities)

o Providing assistive technology support for students (trouble shooting and maintenance)

o Provide appropriate, reasonable and approved accommodations

o Balance email, test scheduling, phone calls, and in person interactions with students, faculty, adjuncts, and staff

o Proctor tests in an alert and vigilant manner so that test integrity is maintained and student conduct is appropriate. Well-versed in the computer software programs (camera systems, Insight, etc.) used to monitor academic integrity

5. Enforces Disability Services Center policies and procedures and the CSCC Student Code of Conduct policies. Record any incidents of academic misconduct via an incident report.

6. Promotes campus-wide awareness of the college's Assistive Technology resources.

7. Identifies, processes, and converts textbooks, classroom and testing materials for students with a disability, in their desired/required accessible format for all college locations. Alternate formats include but not limited to audio, electronic, large print, Braille, etc.

8. Provides Alternate Media trainings to students, faculty, adjuncts, and staff, as necessary. Assists students in the acquisition and installation of Assistive Technology applications on computers and portable devices.

9. Responsible for staying abreast of Alternate Media and disability related trends, equipment and software through attending trainings and other professional development opportunities. Also responsible for bringing this new information back to be reviewed by Disability Services.

10. Responsible for working closely with IT and Asset Management, to maintain and upgrade assistive technology software programs used by Alternate Media staff to produce/convert student materials (textbooks, syllabi, handouts, tests/quizzes, etc.). Collaborates with DEIS to maintain Alternate Media BlackBoard organization essential for distribution of student's textbooks/classroom materials.

11. Responsible for working with our national sources, publishers, Columbus State Bookstore staff, faculty, and students to obtain textbooks and classroom materials for the purpose of conversion into an accessible, alternate format required by the student.

12. Works closely with the Disability Services Coordinator of Alternate Media and Testing Services to acquire updated equipment and software which will continue to streamline the services provided to students as well as provide training.

13. Responsible for reporting and tracking the students that are served through Disability Services.

14. Attends Disability Services staff meetings and scheduled training sessions. Stays current on updated ADA accommodation regulations. Attend professional development trainings/ workshops.

15. Works a regular and predictable schedule and report appropriately in business casual attire.

16. Reports any issues with assistive technology software and hardware and general software programs directly to the Disability Services Coordinator of Alternate Media and Testing Services.

17. Collaborates with DEIS for Blackboard exam support and IT Help Desk for general computer support.

18. Be available during peak volume times such as midterms and finals to handle the flow of traffic and the increase in duties during those times.

19. Openness and willingness to work with diverse student populations while remaining consistent and unbiased in the delivery of reasonable accommodations.

20. Performs other related duties as required.

Usual Physical Demands: The incumbent of this position typically exhibits the physical demands identified in the Functional Job Analysis on file in the College's Human Resources Department and which is periodically reviewed and updated. Physical demands listed in the Functional Job Analysis are not job qualification standards, but are used to help the College assess and determine reasonable accommodations for otherwise qualified individuals covered by the American's with Disabilities Act.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly exhibits digital dexterity when entering data into computer. The employee frequently sits for extended periods of time, and occasionally stands and walks. Vision demands include close, relatively detailed vision when focusing on a computer screen. Employee regularly talks and hears. Employee occasionally lifts items up to 10 pounds.

Working Conditions: Normal office working conditions.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of: standard practices within area of disability services in higher education setting. Skill in: servicing of customers within area of disability services and/or higher education; performing administrative duties in support of testing and alternate media services; application of job related computer software; operation of job-related equipment including computer and other equipment. Ability to: develop and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, students, general public, and other job contacts; maintain confidential and sensitive information.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate's degree with at least three years progressively responsible clerical experience in the area of the assigned specialized function. Employee typically gains the necessary level of expertise by demonstrating job competency acquired through on-the-job training, development, and experience with Columbus State. State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with Higher Education experience, work experience in Disability Services, Assistive Technology and/or Test Proctoring experience.
