Rowan University is a comprehensive state-designated research institution with approximately 15,000 students. Its main campus is located in Glassboro, N.J., 20-miles southeast of Philadelphia, and it has a branch campus and medical school in Camden and a second medical school in nearby Stratford. Rowan is the second university in the country to offer M.D. and D.O. medical-degree granting programs. The School of Osteopathic Medicine has a faculty practice plan that serves approximately 200,000 patients in Southern New Jersey. The institution is also home to the South Jersey Technology Park, which fosters the translation of applied research into commercial products and processes. Its business incubator also supports that mission. The University boasts seven colleges–William G. Rohrer College of Business, Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering and colleges of Communication and Creative Arts, Education, Humanities and Social Sciences, Performing Arts, and Science and Mathematics.

The College of Education at Rowan University has a long-held commitment to excellence in teaching, community engagement, and innovation in scholarship.  The College was recently recognized as having one of the best online graduate programs in the country.  The College of Education is fully accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) and approved by the New Jersey Department of Education.

The Department of Language, Literacy and Sociocultural Education is one of the five departments in the College of Education.  The department offers the required language, literacy, and diversity courses for all undergraduate teacher education programs, post-baccalaureate and graduate endorsement programs. It also offers graduate programs in literacy education, a Masters of Science in Teaching (English, Social Studies and World Languages), and graduate level ESL and bilingual/bicultural education certification programs.

The Department of Language, Literacy & Sociocultural Education is searching for part-time Literacy Education instructors to add to the adjunct pool.  Potential applicants will teach methods and foundational courses in Literacy Education. The position may require day, evening, Saturday, summer, or off-site classes, in addition the possibility of online teaching.
