Job Description:

Duties are numbered for convenience, and do not indicate order in terms of importance, frequency that the duty is performed, or the amount of time spent on the duty.

1) Supports International Student Services (ISS) operations through recruitment, enrollment, advising, referrals, and programming with international populations at the college; with an emphasis on working with new F-1 visa holders.

2) Assists prospective and newly admitted international students from the point of inquiry to registering for classes. Responds to inquiries and help students address questions and concerns related to immigration status, transferring in/out, completing application and supplemental documentation, placement testing, etc. Works with students and college departments to help students acclimate and integrate into the college, the community, and the United States. Helps lead new international student orientation sessions.

3) Reviews and verifies applications, transcripts, financial information, English proficiency test results, and other documents. Issues and endorses student visa documents (e.g. I-20s). Assists students in obtaining, changing and maintaining immigration and student visa status. Coordinates processes for monitoring and reporting student progress and ensures students maintain compliance with college and governmental policies, procedures, and regulations

4) Maintains current knowledge of international and immigrant regulations, enrollment issues, and initiatives. Maintains communication and collaborates with other college departments serving international and immigrant students. Maintains working relationship with international services professionals from other colleges and universities and participates in regular professional development.

5) Promotes departmental and college programs and encourages international populations to get connected to academic support and student life opportunities including but not limited to tutoring, career services, leadership training, student employment, clubs & organizations, etc. Arranges community and international outreach initiatives as needed.

6) Arranges and conducts recruiting presentations for community and school groups, businesses, overseas advisors and other international representatives, and assists with campus tours and visits.

7) Develops, edits, and updates departmental and student­ related forms and documents.

8) Keeps accurate records. Completes and maintains required documentation including contact and activity reports and international student statistics. Maintains confidentiality of student records and other confidential information.

9) Works assigned schedule, exhibits regular and predictable attendance and works overtime as required to meet workload demands. Performs other related duties as required.

Usual Physical Demands: The incumbent of this position typically exhibits the physical demands identified in the Functional Job Analysis on file in the College's Human Resources Department and which is periodically reviewed and updated. While performing duties of this job, the employee regularly exhibits digital dexterity when entering data into computer. The employee frequently sits for extended periods of time, and occasionally stands and walks. Employee converses verbally with others in person and by telephone. Vision demands include close, relatively detailed vision when focusing on a computer screen. The employee occasionally lifts or exerts force of up to 10 pounds when moving boxes, and other materials.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's Degree in Student Personnel, Counseling, Guidance, Education, International Studies, or closely related field with at least three years' progressively responsible experience in International Student Services, Admissions, Advising, Enrollment Services, or other student services area. State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).
