Schedule: M-F 8am-5pm and hours outside normal working schedule as necessary.

Job Description:

1) Maintains the confidentiality of student records and other confidential or sensitive information.

2) Provides information; counseling financial aid recipients and applicants using knowledge of federal, state, and institutional financial aid regulations.

3) Counsels students on the application process and Satisfactory Academic Progress policies.

4) Conducts educational outreach sessions on financial aid.

5) Counsels students, parents, high school personnel and others regarding financial aid programs offered by federal, state, private and institutional sources.

6) Proactively monitors ever-changing rules, regulations, policy bulletins and statutes from the federal and state government, other agencies, and the College.

7) Provides student and parent in-person contact at the Student Central, answering telephone calls, and responding to email inquiries.

8) Provides advising throughout the financial aid process to prospective, new and current students and their families.

9) Completes assigned duties with a high degree of accuracy to ensure compliance.

10) Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

11) Performs other related duties as required.

Usual Physical Demands: The incumbent of this position typically exhibits the physical demands identified in the Functional Job Analysis on file in the College's Human Resources Department and which is periodically reviewed and updated. Physical demands listed in the Functional Job Analysis are not job qualification standards but are used to help the College assess and determine reasonable accommodations for otherwise qualified individuals covered by the American's with Disabilities Act.

While performing duties of this job, the employee regularly exhibits digital dexterity when entering data into the computer. The employee frequently sits for extended periods of time, and occasionally stands and walks. Employee converses verbally with others in person and by telephone. Vision demands include close, relatively detailed vision when focusing on a computer screen. The employee occasionally lifts or exerts a force of up to 10 pounds when moving boxes, and other materials.

Working Conditions: Normal office working conditions.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of: financial aid federal and state rules and regulations; computer software, programs, and applications; administrative and office management; basic mathematics. Skill in: verbal and written communications; customer service; problem-solving; application of job software programs; performing mathematical calculations including percentages and fractions; operating general office equipment; maintaining work records. Ability to: develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates, supervisors, job contracts and the general public; exhibit flexibility in work schedule and job tasks; work independently demonstrating initiative; originate correspondence; collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions pertaining to financial aid administration; maintain and promote good public relations; maintain confidential and sensitive information; work with persons from diverse backgrounds; provide accurate financial aid advice to students; speak effectively to large groups. State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to worksite(s).

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's Degree in a closely related field, with at least one year progressively responsible experience in financial aid and student advising.
