Essential Job Duties:

We are currently accepting applications for an Application and Technical Support Specialist. The successful candidate will install, configure, test, analyze & troubleshoot business software applications and associated systems to ensure that functional potential is realized, user efficiency is optimized and systems are highly reliable. Maintain proper configuration, licensing, support and inventory control of applications. Assess business needs and formulate solutions through the use of Blackboard Learn, Learning Management System and Jenzabar EX, Enterprise Resource Planning application.

Assist end users with application usage and basic knowledge support. Perform maintenance to ensure operational functionality with minimal interruption. Research technology trends, recommend, enhance, install and implement business application systems.

Specific Tasks and Activities:

  • Work in conjunction with our existing LMS & ERP specialists to help support institutional needs.
  • Perform analysis, research and resolution of software problems and coordinates with departmental staff, as needed to achieve goal(s).
  • Actively participates in the testing and implementation of new software systems.
  • Partner with end users and various departments to define business requirements and systems goals.
  • Partner with various business units in the organization to facilitate implementation of new or improved reporting processes.
  • Generates, receives and reviews computer produced output, verifying for completeness and accuracy, consulting with other departmental staff as necessary and initiating corrections when required.
  • Receives requests from customers for service or problems resolution; prioritizes requests and routes to appropriate staff for action; maintain a data base customer requests and tracks the progress of service and problem resolution; contacts customers to keep them informed of the status of their requests.
  • Provides in-service sessions for users in the operation of computer and system applications, and software products.
  • Provides guidance and assistance to users in response to written and verbal questions regarding the proper use and implementation of appropriate procedures and operations necessary to meet user needs.
  • Sets up and maintains user system access according to established procedures; sets up and maintains customer distribution lists.
  • Documents production problems, provides analysis and recommendations for problem resolution.

Livingstone College has an enrollment currently averaging 1200 students annually and is strategically located approximately 45 miles northeast of Charlotte, NC and equidistance southwest of the Piedmont Triad of Greensboro, Winston-Salem and High Point in the heart of Rowan County's historic Salisbury, North Carolina.

Qualifications:

  • College degree in software engineering, computer science or business administration or 3 - 4 years of proven equivalent work experience.
  • Sound fundamental knowledge of Microsoft SQL and query language.
  • Minimum of 2 years practical functional experience with an LMS, preferably Blackboard Learn and an ERP system, preferably Jenzabar EX.
  • Excellent understanding of fundamentals and tools for Learning Management System’s and Enterprise Resource Planning software.
  • Strong knowledge of system testing best practices and methodologies.
