Assistant Director - Athletic Business Operations

RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting to the Associate Athletic Director of Business Operations (AAD), primarily responsible for the accurate accounting of the Athletic Department's financial and fiscal operational activities. This position will coordinate and manage financial processes of the Athletic Department, Ticket Office, and Compliance Office staff; supervise, review, and approve staff prepared reconciliations, reports and journal entries; review transactions posted in BANNER ensuring accurate NCAA reporting classifications; review and approve travel charges and itineraries through contracted travel agent's website; oversee Procurement Card usage for team travel and team travel advances; prepare assigned budget analysis and projections; monitor and reconcile sponsor trade in accordance with agreements; maintain coaches employment contract data base and coordinate additional salary payment request with staff ensuring payments are made in accordance with these agreements; supervise Account Clerk III position; serve as liaison between Athletics and the MTSU Foundation regarding donations; compile year-end financial reports, notes, schedules as assigned, working with other campus departments and internal and external auditors as necessary; perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Accounting required. Preference to CPA certificate attainment or Master's degree. Five (5) years full time, progressively responsible employment in an accounting position to include one year in a supervisory capacity.
Preference will be given to business operations experience within an intercollegiate athletic department or higher education Business Office.

SALARY RANGE: $43,350 - $54,259; commensurate with experience
