Reporting to the Assistant Dean and Director of Intercultural Development, the Assistant Director of Intercultural Development is a full-time position that shares the responsibility of fostering an equitable campus community where students develop and thrive.

The Assistant Director collaborates with other members of Intercultural Development and partners with administrative offices and academic departments to support the student experiences of a diverse campus. The Assistant Director is responsible for assisting in the development, marketing, and facilitation of initiatives that promote cross-cultural learning and social justice awareness.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the planning and implementation of programs and events related to heritage months (e.g. Latin Heritage, LGBTQ History, Black Heritage, Women's History and Asian Pacific Islander Heritage)
  • Assist in the implementation of programs that promote diversity and inclusion including new student orientation and welcome week
  • Partner and collaborate with faculty, staff, members of the Campus life division, and student organizations to contribute to cultural competency
  • Assess programs focusing on outcomes related to identity engagement, leadership, and education to inform and improve initiatives
  • Develop student mentoring and advising relationships through formal and/or informal interactions
  • Provide support and advising for cultural, affinity-based, student organizations; attends meetings and offers guidance on matters involving program development and marketing
  • Support enrollment management initiatives aimed at increasing diversity and strengthening the overall experience for underrepresented and historically marginalized groups
  • Assist in creating awareness of programs and resources available in the Office of Intercultural Development through web page administration and social media platforms
  • Participate in the College's On-Call Emergency Response team and be available to assist the College in crisis response, including bias-response
  • Other duties and special projects, as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with 2-3 years of related experience
  • Evidence of the development, execution, and assessment of educational programs
  • Experience with event planning, including excellent time management and attention to detail
  • A background of advising college students (individually and as members of student organizations) with an emphasis on identity development and leadership skills
  • Working knowledge of theory related to social justice, race, and student development
  • An established track record of continued personal and professional development around issues affecting historically marginalized and underrepresented groups
  • Flexibility to perform duties regularly on evenings and weekends

Preferred Requirements:

  • Master's degree in College Student Development, Higher Education Administration, or a related field
  • Familiarity with a small, private, liberal arts college
