Reporting to the Dean, General Education, the Associate Dean oversees the online visiting faculty who are teaching our online Gen Ed courses. In this role, you will direct and provide leadership to the visiting faculty to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery of program courses and curricula in an environment and manner that achieves superior student outcomes. This is a faculty auditing/QA role and you will conduct regular classroom observations and provide feedback to support and develop teaching excellence practices among our visiting faculty.




In this role you will:


  • Ensure that program courses are staffed with qualified, trained, high-quality instructors by participating in the recruitment of faculty and ensuring that the Talent Acquisition team is aware of faculty recruitment needs.
  • Track faculty qualifications regarding education, certifications and licensure, and ensure compliance before allowing faculty to teach.
  • Orientate new faculty and develop, update and implement faculty orientation materials and processes as needed.
  • Prepare, assess and communicate faculty performance and faculty qualification metrics to faculty, course leaders and program leadership.
  • Supervise and evaluate faculty, providing regular and timely feedback and coaching as needed.
  • Prepare and provide ongoing faculty development to ensure consistent, high-quality faculty performance.
  • Monitor and report on faculty workload and enforce faculty completion of expected duties.
  • Participate in preparing course and faculty schedules, including immersion schedules as needed, working with the faculty operations and course scheduling teams.
  • Serve as a role model and mentor faculty and students in areas of academic excellence, customer service, collaboration, communication and professionalism.
  • Guide faculty regarding student concerns and escalations, academic integrity issues, student absences and performance concerns, assessment, and practicum and preceptor issues. Collaborate with Student Services regarding student concerns when necessary.
  • Ensure regular meetings of the faculty to facilitate communication and faculty participation in planning, implementing and evaluating the curriculum.
  • Solicit recommendations from faculty for academic budget.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

  • Doctorate degree
  • Minimum two years' experience in education, training or staff development at the baccalaureate level or above.
  • At least one year of online teaching experience.
  • Proficiency with online instructional technology applications and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Previous leadership experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, time management and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to interact with all levels: students, faculty, leadership and staff.
  • Strong customer service orientation and customer service skills.
  • Ability to lead, direct and advise faculty.
  • Ability to use a variety of technology applications.
