Associate Dir of Campus Security & Emergency Management

  • The Associate Director of Campus Security and Emergency Management is responsible for the comprehensive operation of MECA's security services to include management of an outside security vendor.
  • The Associate Director will work with a staff committee to provide oversight for all emergency preparedness programs and initiatives, including training.
  • The Associate Director ensures compliance with all laws and local ordinances, and performs risk management functions.
  • The Associate Director will respond to campus security and other emergencies and is responsible for timely incident reports and keeping MECA leadership informed in unfolding emergency situations.
  • The Associate Director will work with the Director of Student Life on student safety issues.
  • The Associate Director is responsible for tracking crime statistics to ensure compliance with College, state, and federal reporting responsibilities as required by the Clery Act.
  • The Associate Director will be the primary liaison with local, state and federal police, fire personnel, emergency management resources, and local community resources.
  • The Associate Director will monitor campus security cameras, be responsible for making student, staff and faculty IDs and handle all door/card access issues.


  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years experience in college/university campus security and emergency preparedness is required.
  • This half-time position requires the Associate Director to be on-call for after-hours emergencies. Some weekend and evening work also required.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team essential.
  • Computer literacy including MS Word, Excel, Adobe, and Google docs required.
  • Must be comfortable in interacting with college age students.
  • Education in law enforcement, security, emergency preparedness , and general safety preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.

Compensation: Commensurate with experience. Retirement plan eligible.
