Associate Director - TSBDC

RESPONSIBILITIES: This is a full time, grant-funded position reporting to the Director of the Tennessee Small Business Development Center (TSBDC) at MTSU.

The Associate Director works with the Director and Operations Manager on execution of operational activities and community outreach through both the Rutherford County and Columbia service centers. The Associate Director works towards developing, marketing, and delivering TSBDC's services to businesses within our fourteen-county region. Incumbent will oversee the operations of the Satellite facility in Maury County.

In addition to tactical execution, the Associate Director is responsible for assisting with the development and implementation of the facilities' strategic plan. Serves as an advocate of business development, expansion and retention in the area, thereby becoming a visible leader in the local business community. Works collaboratively with private-sector businesses, economic development assistance units, and government entities to further the economic well-being of citizens in Middle Tennessee.

Engages in public relations activities such as speeches and presentations with relevant audiences, such as bankers, chambers of commerce, development organizations, etc. Partners with the Director and Operations Manager in coordinating events and maintaining records in conjunction with the SBA contract terms and conditions. Serve as liaison with government agencies at the federal and state level and interface with higher education institutions and regional government offices in Middle Tennessee.

Provide high quality individual instruction and educational support to entrepreneurs, business owners, and business managers. Analyze situations, make recommendations, and educate clients with regards to business plans, market feasibility, financial viability, operations management, and legal structure, etc. Responsible for developing and refining a consulting practice that yields impactful results. Develop and deliver high quality business training programs that are responsive to the needs of the business community served. Develop specialized programs for focus groups identified in the service center's contract. Apply business experience and education in the development and delivery of new training programs and consulting tools.

Direct clients to appropriate sources of business information and assistance. Provide ongoing technical support to MTSU/SBDC Lead Center.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in management, business administration or related field required. Five years progressively responsible related work experience in public or private sector required. Valid drivers license required.

SALARY RANGE: $43,350 - $54,259; commensurate with experience
