Job Description:

Duties are numbered for convenience, and do not indicate order in terms of importance, frequency that the duty is performed, or the amount of time spent on the duty.

1) Supports or administers various employee benefit programs, such as medical, FSA, HSA, dental, vision, COBRA, life, AD&D, LTD, etc.

2) Provides benefit orientation and enrollment support for employees. Coordinates and processes new hire enrollments.

3) Keeps contact information updated for all employees with vendors. Processes and maintains all status reports and benefit pay changes, both on the computer and paper system. Reconciles invoices and conducts audits.

4) Prepares and maintains employee records and files, assuring accuracy, compliance and confidentially.

5) Implements new benefit programs. Arranges and conducts employee informational presentations and enrollments. Creates, coordinates, and presents at open enrollment communications and meetings.

6) Maintains the content of the benefit department's web pages.

7) Maintains statistical data relative to premiums, claims, and costs. Resolves administrative discrepancies with vendor representatives. Assists Director of Benefits in obtaining statistics and information used in the renewal process for the plans.

8) Responds to employee questions regarding benefit plans and enrollment questions. Assists the employees with claim resolution and/or questions.

9) Update payroll databases to reflect appropriate deductions, notifies vendors, calculates and sets-up deductions.

10) Cancels coverage for terminated employees and/or employees requesting to cancel coverage in a timely manner. Notifies third party administrator upon termination of coverage to meet COBRA requirements.

11) Manages and responds to court orders regarding dependent coverage.

12) Functions as the primary contact for all vendor changes. Acts as liaison between employees and vendors (carriers, brokers, and etc.) to resolve benefit's related situations and ensure compliance and
effective utilization of plans.

13) Collaborates with other college human resources employees (Payroll, HRIS, Retirement, Wellness) and supports them in the administration of the plans.

14) Ensures the college's compliance with HIPAA requirements while maintaining confidentiality of all human resources records, payroll files and other sensitive subject matters.

15) Maintains knowledge of human resource management and administrative functions; HIPPA, COBRA, standard payroll administration; general salary/compensation, and benefits administration; standard office practices and procedures within human resources.

16) Works assigned schedule, exhibits regular and predictable attendance and works overtime as required to meet workload demands.

17) Assists the Director of Benefits & Compensation with duties as assigned.

18) Performs other related duties as required.

Physical demands listed in the Functional Job Analysis are not job qualification standards, but are used to help the College assess and determine reasonable accommodations for otherwise qualified individuals covered by the American's with Disabilities Act.

While performing duties of this job, the employee regularly exhibits digital dexterity when entering data into computer. The employee regularly sits and stands for extended periods of time, and occasionally walks. Employee converses verbally with ot hers in person and by telephone. Vision demands include close, relatively detailed vision when focusing on a computer screen. Employee occasionally lifts up to 30 pounds.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate's degree in Business, Human Resource or a related field. State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s). Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. At least one year of administrative support or clerical assistant experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources or a related field; at least three years of administrative support or clerical assistant experience; at least one year of experience in benefits administration or a closely related field.
