Synopsis of Role:

The Data Research Associate provides support for the American Public University System (APUS) community by providing to the provost, deans, directors, and the administration reliable faculty-related information, reports, and statistics that assist the University in supporting faculty hiring and management.

Essential Functions:

• Conducts and analyzes research regarding faculty related concerns: workload, compensation, credentials, scholarly activities, turnover, etc.

• Supplies data and analysis to external and internal entities and where appropriate coordinates with the institutional research department (i.e. IPEDS, CUPA-HR, US news and world report, regional and specialty accrediting bodies).

• Prepares tables, graphs, fact sheets, and written reports summarizing research results.

• Provides assistance with the preparation of project-related reports, dashboards, and presentations, including presentations to academic leadership and the board of trustees.

• Verifies the accuracy and validity of data entered in databases; corrects any errors.

• Provides quality control review of faculty data.

• Provides customer service and updates to faculty candidates, faculty, the faculty human resources and administration team, managers, and vendors responding to emails and phone calls within 24 - 48 hours.

• Fosters and maintains collaborative relationships with stakeholders throughout the institution.

• Maintains high degree of confidentiality when dealing with faculty candidate and employee matters relative to the HR function.

• Performs other duties as assigned

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

• Standard office environment in Charles Town, WV.

• Occasional telecommuting permitted as directed by supervisor.

Required Experience:

• Bachelor's degree required.

• Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required.

• Professional office experience required.

• Working knowledge of Excel pivot tables preferred.

• Prior experience with data analytics preferred.

• Knowledge of data visualization tools preferred.
