Job Description:

1. Under the direction of the Operations Manager, serves as the Facilities Operations Supervisor by managing and directing the daily work of the facilities support staff. Manages and coordinates building inspections, internal painting, moves and set ups, general building up keep duties and contracted janitorial duties. May assist in the supervision of building maintenance and groundskeeper duties.

2. In collaboration with the janitorial provider, resolves concerns and complaints in a timely manner. Serves as the first point of contact for Campus staff on all janitorial matters. Meets with customers and follows through on requests.

3. Ensures assigned work and scheduled functions are carried out in a timely quality manner. Inputs work orders and monitors the work order system to ensure timely completion and follow through.

4. Supervises bargaining unit staff (e.g. approves leave and authorizes overtime as appropriate; conducts annual employee evaluations, takes corrective discipline action when needed, recommends pay increases, promotions and other personnel actions; participates in employee selection process, orients and trains staff); reviews and develops processes for efficient operations to meet the needs of campus staff, faculty and students; collaborates with other campus services and departments. Works in cooperation with other key areas of the College (e.g. Equity & Compliance, Police Department, Information Technology, etc.).

5. Performs related administrative duties; may prepare various reports, records and other documents; responds to emails and phone calls, attends various trainings and meetings. Carries out, explains, interprets, and enforces college policies, safety procedures and the collective bargaining agreement. Establishes and maintains contracts with various vendors for services including painting, cleaning, and supplies. Inventories and audits items including, but not limited to uniforms, mats, supplies, tools and equipment. Orders needed equipment and supplies. May request quotes and prepare bids and contracts for vendor purchases.

6. Coordinates and schedules repairs and maintenance of equipment.

7. Serves on-call after hours for building and snow removal emergencies.

8. Works assigned schedule; exhibits regular and predictable attendance and works overtime as required to meet workload demands. Performs other related duties as required

Employee converses verbally with others in person and by telephone. Vision demands include close, relatively detailed vision when focusing on a computer screen. Employee occasionally lifts or exerts force on items, with varying weights up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions: Normal office working conditions with occasional exposure to dirt, dust, debris and smells. Regular exposure to wet, humid or other outdoor weather conditions. Employee may have occasional exposure to minor cuts, burns or other incapacitating injury. Risk of exposure to electrical shock, fumes or airborne particles is regular. Employee occasionally works near moving parts.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications: Associate's Degree or equivalent education/training with at least 3 years management or supervisory experience in Facilities Management, Business Administration, Skilled Trades or a related field. Must have a valid State of Ohio Motor Vehicle Operator's License and be insurable as a condition of initial and continued employment.

Preferred Qualifications: At least 3 years managing or supervising bargaining unit staff in Facilities Management, Skilled Trades or a related field.
