Faculty Development Specialist


As part of a team of Faculty Development Specialists, you will create and deliver development programs and curriculum for Chamberlain's faculty to promote faculty development; develop and deliver educational materials;
guide the growth of faculty with purposeful and effective approaches that promote extraordinary preparation at the undergraduate and graduate levels; evaluate the effectiveness of the development programs; provide continuous quality improvement of the teaching/learning materials and modalities; develop and maintain communications to the faculty of new initiatives and courses as available; foster personal and professional growth and mentoring; and lead teams in development and facilitation of programs to support faculty in teaching and learning practices, research and scholarship.
The position reports directly to the Dean of Faculty.

Job Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with campus and program leadership, identify faculty needs and deliver educational offerings to advance the effectiveness and professional development of faculty.
  • Support campus and program leadership in meeting faculty development needs.
  • Design, implement and evaluate effectiveness of ongoing faculty training and professional development programs such as faculty workshops, seminars, asynchronous learning opportunities and formal education courses.
  • Serve as resource person and mentor for faculty and program leadership.
  • Drive improved outcomes through monitoring and tracking results against goals and outcomes.
  • Build and maintain relationships with campus and online faculty to ensure collaboration in initiatives and programs.
  • Collaborate with national teams to support and maintain a mechanism for sharing of best teaching practices throughout the University.
  • Maintain accurate records of CFE sponsored faculty training and developmental activities including topics presented, attendee lists and evaluations.
  • Guide and support exemplary programs that encourage transformative learning such as the international experience program and other initiatives.
  • Represent faculty development at campus and remote locations.
  • Responsible for evaluation and updates of development materials.
  • Recommend and use technology to implement faculty training and development in a cost-effective manner.
  • Complete other projects and duties as assigned.

  • Doctoral degree in nursing (or related field), from a regionally accredited institution
  • Minimum of 5 years nursing education experience including didactic and clinical, broad clinical nursing experience
  • Experience with designing and implementing faculty development programs based on adult learning theory
  • At least 3 years of experience teaching in an online environment required
  • Curriculum development experience required
  • Previous scholarship commensurate with the Assistant Professor Rank or above.
  • Current unencumbered registered nurse license required
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and coordinate the details of multiple concurrent projects
  • Ability to effectively and consistently guide teams and development programs
  • Ability to manage a variety of business and vendor resources
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions with minimal supervision and direction
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced deadline-oriented environment
  • Proficient with project management practices and tools
  • Capability to influence and instill credibility in administrative team peers and subordinates by meeting project milestones, deadlines and budget
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and build relationships
  • Proven effective and consistent interpersonal, organizational, conflict resolution, management, and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills
