College and Area Information: Northland Pioneer College is located in Northeastern Arizona, which serves Navajo and Apache counties. Northland Pioneer College offers classes at four campuses and five centers across northeastern Arizona which includes the areas encompassed by three Native American tribes. Organizational Relationship: Reports to the Associate Dean of Education and College and Career Preparation.

Location: White Mountain Campus, Holbrook, AZ

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in media arts, computer science, instructional design, instructional technology or a related field.
  • Project management experience, including the ability to meet high specifications of quality on tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and experience with instructional software, course/learning management systems, online course delivery methods, and other instructional technologies; ability to integrate these resources into instructional programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum qualifications, plus a Master's degree (or equivalent) in media arts, computer science, instructional design, instructional technology or a related field.
  • Experience with Moodle, JICS, or similar virtual learning environments.
  • Higher education teaching experience via alternative learning modes, such as fully online, hybrid, web or technology-enhanced face-to-face, or audio/video.

Responsibilities:

  1. Teach six (6) load hours per year using one of the alternative delivery methods currently in use at the College.
  2. Devise and provide learning and training opportunities appropriate to faculty with a range of technological competencies through individual consultation, coaching, workshops, and other means as deemed appropriate, including the active use of the technologies and/or tools, including training in the use of the Learning Management System.
  3. Provide pedagogical and technological support and professional development opportunities to faculty designing, developing, and delivering online, hybrid, and technology-enhanced courses which facilitate curricular designs effective in achieving desired student learning outcomes.
  4. Study and identify emerging technological and pedagogical trends; produce guides and materials on these subjects as appropriate.
  5. Collaboratively work with support staff and faculty to resolve issues with instructional technology.
  6. Through the Learning Technology Subcommittee, collaboratively work with Information Services on all issues related to instructional technologies.
  7. Manage an electronic resource center which addresses the theory and practice of effective distance pedagogy and instructional design/development, and which provides access to support documentation.
  8. Collaboratively work with support staff and faculty to ensure that technology-based learning environments and support systems maintain compliance with Section 508 of the Americans with Disabilities Act and other accessibility standards.
  9. Collaboratively administer NPC's learning management system (virtual learning environments).. Lead in the analysis of organizational needs and goals related to the design and implementation of online distance learning. Maintain technological criteria for distance learning based on current plan, and evaluation of research in the field; ensure standards are met. Research applicability and uses of learning technology to increase levels of accessibility and usability within course materials. Liaise with faculty, staff (especially Information Services), and administration in the implementation of these goals.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required License/Certifications: Valid Arizona driver's license.
