Information Systems Analyst 2

Position Information

Under the supervision of the Systems Administrator and in coordination with the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Information Systems Analyst 2 will support various Marlan and Rosemary Bourns College of Engineering websites including converting sites to new platforms, such as the current conversion to Drupal, and maintaining, expanding and developing custom web applications. The successful candidate will be responsible for building, maintaining and updating web pages for departments, centers, clubs, and research groups and will be expected to interface directly with faculty members, students and staff by using effective communication skills and working collaboratively. To be successful, this person should have the ability to work independently and will be expected to manage multiple projects, maintain timelines and meet deadlines. Current programs used at the college include but are not limited to Drupal, Java Script, Java, PHP, Python, Pearl, C++, JSON and MySQL. This person will be responsible for continually evaluating new languages and technologies with the expectation that they will learn as new advancements become available.

Minimum Requirements

Demonstrated experience with database administration.
Interpersonal skills sufficient to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Ability to elicit and communicate technical and non-technical information in a clear and concise manner.
Ability to write technical documentation in a clear and concise manner.
General knowledge of several areas of IT.
Demonstrated knowledge of computer security tools, best practices and policies. Demonstrated skills applying security controls to computer software and hardware.
Demonstrated ability to install software and troubleshoot and repair moderately complex problems with computing devices, peripherals and software. Understanding of system performance monitoring and actions that can be taken to improve or correct performance. Basic knowledge of incident response procedures. Demonstrated ability to follow software specifications
Demonstrated testing and test planning skills.
Knowledge of data management systems, practices and standards.
Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Demonstrates problem-solving skills. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines.
Knowledge of business processes and procedures. Knowledge of the design, development and application of technology and systems to meet business needs.
Demonstrated understanding of how system management actions affect users and dependent/related functions.
Knowledge relating to the design and development of software. Basic knowledge of secure software development.
