Schedule: M-F, 8.30a.m. 4.30p.m, including occasional evening and weekend work and travel based on seasonal business needs/position requirements

Summary of position:

The Internship Program Advisor & Special Projects Coordinator is responsible for providing top quality pre-departure advising, preparation, and service for IES Abroad Internship students, their families and home school personnel. In addition to advising, this role includes working closely with the Internships team and Visa Specialist/Advisor to conduct research and assist on team projects throughout the year.

In the role as Advisor, this person serves as the expert on several IES Internships programs for both external and internal audiences. The Advisor also assists with occasional coverage for recruiting work and provides high quality service to U.S. colleges and universities in the IES Abroad Consortium.

As a Special Projects Coordinator, this person will be responsible for working directly with the Visa Specialist & Program Advisor to provide assistance with research, brainstorming and execution of many team projects. The Special Projects Coordinator will also be responsible for preparing data for written, visual, and oral presentations.

Experience & Qualifications/Skills:

  • Two + years' experience in university/college recruitment preferred
  • Experience working in the field of study abroad/international education, internships or a comparable area preferred
  • Knowledge of basic higher education admissions and registration principles, practices and processes
  • Strong interpersonal communication and advising abilities with exceptional customer service focus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and critical thinking skills
  • A very creative, enthusiastic and proactive attitude is a must
  • Strong social media literacy, Microsoft Office, and basic data analysis
  • Experience working with databases, especially within higher education, preferred
  • Experience with mentoring or interacting with student groups is preferred
  • Ability to manage and maintain high call and email volume, and to respond in a timely manner
  • Skilled in handling stressful situations, i.e., advising anxious students and parents
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment
  • Takes accountability and responsibility
  • Strong leadership aptitude and ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong attention to detail with the capacity to maintain accurate records
  • Ability to prepare and present effective presentations
  • Familiarity with intercultural competency and international education /study abroad a plus
  • Proficiency in a foreign language a plus

Education Licenses and/or Certifications etc.:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience preferred
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States
  • S. Driver's license for occasional travel coverage essential
