The IT Support Consultant provides IT related support for the Brown community. As an IT Support Consultant, this position is part of a team in Computing and Information Services which provides in-depth technical support via a combination of on-site assistance, phone, chat, email, remote tools on a variety of computer hardware, software, peripherals, mobile devices and other electronic equipment to the Brown community. This position is assigned to departments which they visit, maintain a close relationship with and provide direct support to, though may be assigned other support tasks as needed. Mentors and assists with training needs for more junior team members.

Please note: The grade level of the hire will be determined based on the qualifications of the chosen candidate.

Qualifications for Grade 9E:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent related job experience required

• 2 - 3 years of providing desktop computing support

• One or more MCP, MCSE or MCSA, or ACHDS certifications preferred

• Knowledge with Mac, PC and mobile devices including software used at Brown (Office, Filemaker, Remedy, etc.)

• Experience with IT support (computers, peripherals); proven ability to problem-solve, understand and troubleshoot complex technical issues

• Knowledge of electronic software distribution tools such as SMS/SCCM, Casper, and ARD preferred

• Strong computing, analytical, and organizational skills; project planning and project management skills

• Excellent customer service skills

• Excellent written and oral communications

• Excellent organizational skills; attention to details

• Ability to multitask is required

• Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Qualifications for Grade 10E:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent related job experience required

• 3 - 5 years of providing desktop computing support working in a complex environment

• One or more MCP, MCSE or MCSA, or ACHDS certifications preferred

• Knowledge with Mac, PC and mobile devices including software used at Brown (Office, Filemaker, Remedy, DeskPro, etc.)

• Expert knowledge supporting (computers, peripherals); proven ability to problem-solve, understand and troubleshoot complex technical issues and recommend technology solutions.

• Knowledge of electronic software distribution tools such as SMS/SCCM, Casper, and ARD preferred

• Strong computing, analytical, and organizational skills; project planning and project management skills

• Excellent customer service skills

• Promotes and portrays positive team work

• Excellent written and oral communications

• Excellent organizational skills; attention to details

• Ability to multitask is required

• Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team

• Ability to mentor and train junior team members
