Lab Assistant

The part-time laboratory assistant will be responsible for oversight of various pieces of shared research equipment for the Brown University Neuroscience Department. Also, this person will track use of the shared equipment and shared equipment rooms. Managing sign-up calendars and log sheets for various pieces of equipment. Keeping track of equipment use via calendars. Connecting prospective users to individuals who can provide training. Organizing key and swipe card access for prospective users. Enforcing proper use of equipment if needed. Organize safety training through EHS training for new users. Act as overall point person for shared equipment/room inquiries. Interact with lab managers as repair equipment liaison for department.

Qualifications:

  • Associates degree with 1-2 years of related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to effectively organize information - producing spread sheets, generating Google calendars, sending and tracking emails, tracking data.
  • Ability to communicate reliably and effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and to work collaboratively with a diverse group of people, with vastly different skills and training.
  • Careful planning, attention to detail, and reliable execution of assigned responsibilities.
