Job Description:

1) Manages daily operation of the Columbus Campus testing centers. Must maintain proficient knowledge for a variety of tests administered in testing centers and provide face to face frontline services when necessary, (i.e. Distance Learning, Classroom Makeups, Placement, Vendor Testing and Departmentalized tests requests).

2) Manages staff in the performance of job duties and responsibilities. Conducts annual employee evaluations, and recommends pay increases, promotions and other personnel actions.

3) Assigns and delegate tasks, provide direction, resolve work problems, communicates job expectations, trains employees and develops professional growth development opportunities.

4) May approve leaves and authorizes overtime as appropriate.

5) Administers disciplinary actions upon approval, and in collaboration with Human Resources.

6) Creates a positive student, staff and faculty experience for those reporting for services or working within CTS. Manage and carry out all student facing service delivery tasks on the frontline in a courteous and helpful manner. Carries out, explain, interpret and enforce policy.

7) Analyzes problems and recommend solutions, ensuring a smooth flow of operations and assistance to students, staff and faculty.

8) Works closely with and provides daily support to the Director. Meets regularly with the Director to discuss issues with staff training and development; assisting the Director on assessment of services, compiling and reporting data, along with other issues as needed. Provides purchasing, travel, and budgetary assistance.

9) Participates in employee searches, hiring, training and other office activities. Assist with staff scheduling that promotes traffic flow patterns to be met in a manner that is an efficient and effective atmosphere and is maintained for both students and staff in a welcoming and encouraging environment.

10) Communicates effectively with students and faculty, internal and external partners that require service within CTS. Collaborates with faculty to ensure their needs are met by the Testing Center. Serves as a liaison between online course instructors, who require tests be administered in the testing centers and testing staff on and off-campus, to ensure proper test administration. Plans and coordinates with faculty and appropriate departments to provide and maintain quality testing services. Develops and organizes events to promote services to students, faculty and visitors.

11) Researches and compiles information for reports and other documentation. Coordinates and prepares reports as deemed necessary with assistance from Institutional Effectiveness and the Integrated Systems teams as needed. Compiles basic monthly, quarterly reports, establishes databases, enhance present procedures and policies.

12) Engages in the use of technology in order to provide continuous improvement with service. Must become familiar with all software/technologies employed in the Center. Provides daily minor troubleshooting and follow-up with vendors and Integrated Systems as needed.

13) Performs other related duties as required.

14) Works assigned schedule, exhibits regular and predictable attendance and works overtime as required and approved to meet workload demands. Evenings and Saturdays scheduling will be required to meet operational needs. Reliable transportation required and travel to other test centers will be required.

While performing duties of this job, the employee regularly stands and walks, and frequently sits at a desk to conduct reference research. Employee frequently reaches, bends or kneels to retrieve items. Employee regularly talks and listens to patrons, and frequently reads computer screens, books and other material. Employee regularly lifts items up to 10 pounds.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of: management principles and practices [intermediate level]. Skill in: verbal and written communications. Ability to: apply management principles to practical situations within a single department with multiple locations or functional area; maintain confidential and sensitive information; develop and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, students, general public and other job contacts; work with and effectively manage persons of varying cultures and diversity.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in a closely related field of study and at least five years related experience, including the supervision of others. State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).

Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with an ability to use databases, create complex spreadsheets, use web-tools, and course management systems.
