Manager, Social Media

This position drives social community strategy, management, and growth while contributing to overall social media strategy. This position guides, develops, manages and provides insights on conversations about DeVry University and Keller Graduate School of Management. Serving as the primary public voice of DeVry and Keller on social channels, this position plays a key role in driving public perceptions of DeVry. This person must have a dynamic personality, great conversational skills and a strong background in community management and brand journalism. This person will contribute to all aspects of day-to-day community engagement on our social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube) as well as all other sites on the web where conversations are happening related to our brand and topics of interest. This position is responsible for managing the social editorial calendar while also developing social media and marketing campaign content. Additionally, this position contributes to paid social media advertising strategy and reporting. This role helps drive innovation in the organization relative to social content, social media software tools and social media campaigns



  • Manages community manager(s) responsible for DeVry University and Keller Graduate School of Management social communities.
  • Engages in conversation as the official voice of DeVry University when needed.
  • Manages process for identifying service and follow-up opportunities and routes to appropriate internal stakeholders.
  • Manages DeVry's Social Media Content Management System and serves as the internal subject matter expert for social CMS among the organization-wide social media teams.
  • Trains, motivates and manages a team of community engagers who work remotely or on site ; routes topics/content to internal/external social media engagers and influencers for engagement in the channels when appropriate.
  • Manages the editorial calendar with teams as appropriate and pursues initiatives to engage our online communities.
  • Assists in identifying new content opportunities. Writes, edits and publishes new content in support of DeVry online reputation management and other marketing initiatives.
  • Develops, schedules and publishes social media content across multiple platforms.
  • Contributes to paid social media efforts for inquiry and social engagement.
  • Is responsible for direction and project management of social programs and campaigns.
  • Collects, synthesizes and analyzes data and prepares various social listening reports.
  • Completes other projects and duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Journalism, Communications or related field;
  • 5+ years Marketing, Digital or Social Media experience. Journalism experience a big plus.
  • Preference for working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, start-up type environment.
  • A self-starter with the willingness and desire to "roll up your sleeves" and get the job done.
  • Proven history of developing new, sustainable processes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a desire to work cross-functionally and in teams.
  • Equally comfortable making a customer presentation and creating content for the community.
  • Overwhelming passion for today's social networking and collaboration technologies.
  • Experience managing social media content management systems
  • Experience building online interaction among members of a large-scale community.
  • Experience using social media publishing and monitoring tools, such as Sprinklr, Spredfast, etc.
  • Experience with, and passion for, creating and consuming new content types: websites, blogs, podcasts, wikis, etc. and distribution of same to community.
  • Video, photography or design experience a plus.
  • Specific experience identifying and utilizing appropriate content streams: transcripts, articles, surveys, web seminars, podcasts, wikis, blogs, etc.
