Job Description:

1) Loads and unloads trucks, checks in shipments to ensure accuracy, notes damaged items, and performs other responsibilities to process deliveries.

2) Maintains shipping and receiving documentation.

3) Maintains responsibility for keeping shipping and receiving area, warehouse and general merchandise areas clean and organized.

4) Prepares and boxes items for shipping.

5) Operates fork lift, pallet jack and other material handling equipment to move and store items.

6) Works assigned schedule, exhibits regular and predictable attendance and works overtime as required and approved to meet workload demands.

7) Performs other related duties as required.

Usual Physical Demands: The incumbent of this position typically exhibits the physical demands identified in the Functional Job Analysis on file in the College's Human Resources Department and which is periodically reviewed and updated. Physical demands listed in the Functional Job Analysis are not job qualification standards, but are used to help the College assess and determine reasonable accommodations for otherwise qualified individuals covered by the American's with Disabilities Act.

While performing the duties of this job the employee frequently stands and walks and occasionally sits. The employee frequently uses hands to handle and feel and reaches with hands or arms. The employee regularly climbs or balances, stoops, kneels, crouches or crawls. The employee frequently converses verbally with others in person. The employee regularly lifts or exerts force on items up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions: Normal working conditions typical of a warehouse with frequent exposure to dirt, dust, debris and smells. Regular exposure to wet or humid conditions and outdoor weather conditions. Occasional exposure to extreme cold (non-weather) and extreme heat (non-weather). Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock, work with explosives, toxic or caustic materials. Regular exposure to minor cuts, burns, or incapacitating injury, fumes, or airborne particles. Regular work near moving parts and in high precarious places. Frequent exposure to loud noise typical to a warehouse.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of: general warehousing practices; safety practices related to material moving and storage. Skill in: operating forklift and other material handling equipment; completing forms; maintaining basic work records. Ability to: develop and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, students, general public, truckers, and other job contacts.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED with at least one year of experience in shipping and receiving or closely related field. State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).

Preferred Qualifications: Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office software and familiarity with copier operation. Forklift Operator's Certification.
