Synopsis of Role:

The Military Assistance Team Specialist at American Public University System (APUS) processes military tuition assistance forms submits veteran's benefits data to the veteran affairs (VA) and process civilian tuition assistance forms within the targets service level performance goals set by the department. Assist military and veteran student population in regards to available benefits.

Essential Functions:

• Assists with the processing of all military and veterans educational assistance programs to include: military and civilian tuition assistance, veterans benefits (all chapters), and APUS tuition benefits.

• Maintains targeted service level performance goals as established by military assistance management.

• Assists students via telephone and email communications within established deadlines.

• Provides resources for military and veteran students to receive educational benefits.

• Assists team members with prioritizing departmental work to be completed within established deadlines.

• Certifies all chapters of VA benefits, report progress of veteran and military students, and maintain communication with VA and military representatives.

• Contributes to the continued improvement of the military assistance department through active participation in meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.

• Maintains departmental and individual production goals with an emphasis on quality output.

• Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

• Standard office environment in Charles Town, WV.

• Ability to access high-speed internet during office closures.

• Flexibility to work more than 40 hours a week if needed.

Required Experience:

• Associate's Degree required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.

•Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite is required.

•Two or more years' experience in functions, preferably in a higher education setting preferred.

•Basic knowledge of veterans and military education programs strongly preferred.
