MRI Research Assistant

The research assistant will provide support for and assistance to the MRI Research Facility and its staff in its daily operations and its service to the Brown research community. This support entails computer software and hardware administration, MRI scanner operation, data analysis, providing training to beginning MRI users and administrative duties.


  • Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience, Psychology or related field required, plus 1-2 years of related research experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prefer previous experience with cognitive neuroscience research and MRI methods.
  • Additional experience with other neuroimaging techniques such as EEG a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and work collaboratively with a diverse group of people with vastly different skills and training.
  • Ability to rapidly learn requisite skills.
  • Careful planning, attention to detail, and reliable execution of assigned responsibilities.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge of basic statistics and cognitive neuroscience techniques a plus.
  • Assistant will work in an MRI environment and must not have any contraindications for doing so such as implanted medical devices or other non MRI-compatible metal in body.
  • Must complete MRI safety training and other laboratory training as required by the University.
  • May occasionally work with experimental animals.
