Post-Baccalaureate Fellow in Garden Outreach Innovation

Provide creative, technical and administrative support for the broad range of educational, marketing, and communications strategies and activities undertaken by the Botanic Garden of Smith College. Emphasis will be placed on building connections with undergraduate audiences at Smith College and establishing a culture of inclusive community outreach and engagement. This position will be part of a cohort of three post-baccalaureates fellows that will also engage in training activities and courses sponsored by the Jill Ker Conway Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center.

Administrative and Program Support: Provide creative, technical and administrative support to the Manager of Education at the Botanic Garden. Co-develop, organize, market, and launch a "Nights in the Conservatory" program and "Student Nights" at semi-annual flower shows in order to expand access to Lyman Conservatory greenhouses, exhibits, and programming. Help prototype, plan, trial, and assess hands-on educational activities. Develop student-focused marketing materials related to events and exhibitions. Help promote, coordinate, and staff programs and events. Help research, draft, and release media announcements and articles on a wide variety of topics, from "What's in Bloom" to special exhibitions. Compile and draft content for Botanic Garden marketing and communications materials and social media platforms.

Departmental Operations: Provide support as needed for routine operations including program and event staffing; mailings; departmental phone coverage; and other administrative tasks as requested.

Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree. Horticultural experience or experience in cultural institutions desirable. Experience engaging with diverse audiences and creating inclusive public spaces desirable. Candidates from underrepresented identities strongly encouraged to apply.

Skills: Excellent oral, written, organizational, interpersonal, and social media skills essential for success. Demonstrated technical experience with educational programing, marketing, outreach, and/or graphic design desirable.
