Work on a collaborative USGS funded project examining the fate of silver nanoparticles in treatment wetlands. Work with researchers at USGS in Menlo Park, CA, in the lab Dr. Marie-Noele Croteau, the Center for Nanoscience and Risk at University of South Carolina, and the Picker Engineering Program at Smith College in Northampton, MA in the lab of Professor Niveen Ismail.

  • Conduct kinetic uptake experiments
  • Design, test and operate wetland treatment mesocosms
  • Mentor undergraduate researchers
  • Prepare and disseminate results through publications, presentations, and conference attendance
  • Assist with grant management
  • Assist with potential preparation of additional grant proposals

Education/Experience: PhD in Environmental Engineering or a related field.

Skills: Excellent written and oral communication. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Mentoring experience. Desire to be a member of an interdisciplinary team and conduct research at a US scientific government agency and women's liberal arts college. Experience working with metal-based nanoparticles (preferable). Experience with ICP-MS and other analytical instrumentation (preferable).

This is a two year, limited-term position.
