Position Summary:

The Quality Director is responsible for the overall management, direction and implementation for McCarthy's Quality Processes on projects within the region. The Quality Director has the responsibility to accurately and fully inform management of each project's overall quality, including potential liabilities and/or concerns. The Quality Director also participates in the National McCarthy Quality Group and assists on the development of company quality procedures and processes.

Key Responsibilities & Qualifications


  • Responsible for identifying, coordinating and overseeing all quality specific trainings for the region including peer group meetings, quarterly Quality meetings and involved with corporate trainings including the management development program.
  • Responsible for all relevant quality communication to the field regarding best practices, lessons learned, monthly updates to the field, recent events and other miscellaneous communication.
  • Responsible for aiding project personnel in the implementation for the quality program activities on their project through proactive training, support and examples.
  • Participate and lead corporate quality programs in assisting with the development of corporate quality goals and objectives.
  • Participates and accomplishes periodic site evaluations. Maintains, evaluates and reports on quality metrics.
  • Participates and assists in the coordination for the pre-jobsite quality planning. Provide expertise and knowledge in streamlining quality processes in accordance with McCarthy policies and procedures.
  • Participate and assist with the implementation of Site Specific Quality Plans, Building Enclosure Coordination Programs, Water Infiltration prevention programs and infection control programs on projects.
  • Elaborates monthly reports regarding the divisional project quality status matrix, additionally does quarterly quality metrics.
  • Responsible for periodic reporting including monthly divisional newsletters, update on quality incidents and end of project value added summaries.
  • Collaborates with Risk Management and Legal in participating in quarterly office meetings to review claims, assisting with joint jobsite visits when appropriate and quarterly updates regarding issues avoided due to the quality program.
  • Partners with Key Owners, Architects and Engineers to discuss quality indices, and review avoided issues due to McCarthy's quality program
  • Work directly with McCarthy's quality tracking software (KnowledgeBuilder) to review claims and lessons learned. Maintain and monitor best practices within the database.
  • Partners with the Texas Regional leadership team to set goals and develop strategy in enhancing and improving the regional quality plan. Responsible in the execution of said plans.
  • Directs and assists in the hiring of quality professionals and their development to ensure they continue to develop key skills and abilities in quality.
  • Acts as a key interface within the market partnering with key quality associations, A/E/C associations and business leaders to build and maintain and active network of contacts and create trust based relationships.


  • 10+ years of experience managing the quality efforts of construction jobsites with a combined value of over 200M.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction, Engineering or related field required.
  • Previous training related to quality process implementation.
  • Experience with industrial, heavy civil, marine, commercial and healthcare projects.
  • Experience with self -perform.
  • Specific technical expertise in building enclosures or mechanical systems is desirable as primary focus of quality program.
  • Knowledge of material, methods, the tools involved in construction
  • Ability to work with all construction groups-management, owners, trades and subcontractors
  • Ability to motivate, develop and direct people as they work.
  • Must have excellent communication, organizational, decision-making, leadership, and problem solving skills
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
