Research Programs Analyst

Position Information

Assists the UC MEXUS Director of Research Programs with analysis for establishment, maintenance, and budgeting for all UC MEXUS research programs, including the UC MEXUS-CONACYT collaborative grant program. Ensures compliance with external and internal agencies in the U.S. and Mexico, as well as UC system-wide guidelines, policies and procedures. Extensive bilingual capability for reading, writing, and speaking in both Spanish and English at a professional level is required. Budgeted hiring range for this position is $40,300 to $59,800.

Minimum Requirements

Ability to thrive in a busy, high-volume, and deadline driven work environment that requires coordination of multiple activities and the judgment and flexibility to reprioritize to accommodate emergency requests. Detail oriented.
Ability to learn and develop understanding of applicable compliance requirements related to use of human or animal subjects in research, financial conflict of interest, biosafety, etc.
Proficiency working with computer and information management systems.
Ability to perform routine financial analysis and reporting.
Ability to learn and develop understanding of applicable federal, state, local, sponsor and institutional regulations, policies, and guidelines.
Organization and communication skills and customer service focus.
Demonstrated competence on the use of spreadsheets and database software in financial analysis, fiscal management and financial reports.
Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting , fiscal and reporting principles.
Bilingual capability for reading, writing, and speaking in English and Spanish at a professional level.
Administrative/analytical experience in an academic environment with an emphasis on research and grants administration.
Skill and experience in working with database management software programs.
Skill in accurate record keeping with strict attention to detail.
Skill and ability to formulate, write and present extensive analytical reports.
Skill in working as part of a team collaboration with colleagues at both the UC level and in Mexico.
Ability to work independently to follow-through on assignments.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with automated forms and programs for various functions.
