About the Analytics and Special Projects Team

The Analytics and Special Projects team is part of the Business Intelligence unit and is dedicated to generating valuable insights to enhance fundraising efforts. The team is responsible for comprehensive reporting across the department, University, and external entities, developing business intelligence dashboards, and automating legacy reports to enhance operational efficiency. Managing the SQL Server data architecture and maintaining Power BI, the team ensures robust data management and accessibility. The team is increasingly focused on preparing data for future applications of artificial intelligence (AI) in fundraising, leveraging cutting-edge technologies to drive strategic initiatives. Additionally, the team conducts global audits and provides in-depth insights into the data within the CRM, ensuring data quality and informing decision-making processes across the department and University.

Position Information

Hiring Department: Institutional Advancement

Hours: 40 hours per week, standard Monday- Friday 8:00am- 5:00pm

FLSA status: Exempt

Earliest Start Date: As soon as possible.

Salary: $50,000 annually.

Work Modality: Hybrid (16 hours per week on-site). Institutional Advancement is seeking a candidate within a commutable distance from campus (75 miles or less).

What You'll Do

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Analytics and Special Projects, you'll be responsible for developing, interpreting, and visualizing data as well as implementing techniques for reporting, planning, risk management, and compliance.

As the division implements and manages data visualization tools, you and your colleagues in the Business Intelligence unit will collaborate closely to identify critical insights that drive business decisions. This includes importing and exporting data, preparing reports, analyzing data, disseminating reports, and responding to inquiries from various constituents regarding errors, problems, or questions related to reports or the database.

Additionally, you'll create specialized management reports to analyze donor, alumni, and gift data using Microsoft Excel and Raiser's Edge (CRM). You'll also regularly prepare and disseminate departmental, college and university-wide specialized donor, alumni, and gift reports as well as respond to ad hoc reporting and analysis requests.

Providing technical support for Excel-related reporting, forms, and documents will also be part of your responsibilities. Embracing a growth mindset, you will continuously seek ways to improve IA's reporting capabilities, streamline processes, and drive efficiencies through an analytic approach.

Essential Functions:

Performs tasks as assigned using existing procedures, practices, techniques, etc.

Coordinates donor and funding efforts, services, events, programs, etc. as assigned.

Completes standard assignments and responsibilities and makes recommendations for improvement/efficiency, resourcing, etc., as necessary.

Uses existing procedures to solve standard problems and/or correct standard, routine issues.

Assists in the development and implementation of fund-raising plans according to plan and/or with guidance.

Impacts own work team through accuracy and quality of own work.

Works within standardized functional procedures and practices to achieve objectives and meet established deadlines.

Exchanges information in a straightforward manner

Develops working relationships with various teams/parties.

Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and able to learn and use institutional software systems.

Complies with all State and University policies.

Other duties may be assigned; specific roles may have additional responsibilities due to the nature of the specific role/division/unit.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree

and

Experience: 1.5 (One and a half) - 2 (Two) years of related experience in Power BI or SQL and data visualization, and training to the statement of duties and responsibilities; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Python or Tableau

Experience in software development

Experience in a non-profit organization and/or higher education fundraising setting

Experience using a fundraising database (e.g. Raiser's Edge/NXT)

Experience analyzing higher education data

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Advanced Excel skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office software and ability to learn and use institutional software systems
