About this role…

This position is an individual contributor in the Product Management team at NWEA and reports to a Senior Director of Product Management. As a Sr. Product Manager of Business Alliances you will work directly with the NWEA Business Development Team to identify opportunities to close product gaps or develop new product solutions that include third party products or services. You will evaluate opportunities that the Business Development Team identifies as being potential partners with NWEA. In addition, you will work with other members of the product team and other cross-functional team members to support RFP responses and grant applications that require unique solutions.

As the Senior Product Manager of Business Alliances, you will work closely with NWEA staff from product management, business development, legal, sales and third party entities to collaboratively develop and manage product/service solution strategy, planning and execution throughout the duration of the solution, including the definition of market opportunities, business cases and pricing models, market requirements, integration roadmap and release plans, market and competitive positioning, solution feature design, and development priorities as needed.

For this role, a deep knowledge of the P-12 education domain in the areas of curriculum, assessment and district buying decision patterns is required. Familiarity with NWEA products is essential. We are seeking candidates that reside in the Portland metro area or are able to relocate to Portland.

Your next challenge…

  • Responsible for all aspects of product management related to the development of new solutions in partnership with third parties or in response to an RFP bid/grant application for assigned product(s) and service(s), including vision, strategy, positioning, planning, and execution including but not limited to market and product/service opportunities, business and financial analysis, roadmap and release, market requirements, functional requirements validation, go-to-market information and artifacts, and sales support.
  • Work in partnership with Business Development and Sales personnel to assess needs, identify opportunities and build relationships to facilitate the development of successful solutions for NWEA and its partners.
  • Serve as product management liaison between third parties and NWEA to vet partnership opportunities from a product portfolio strategy fit and effort required versus expected outcomes.
  • Serve as an internal resource to the product management team in identifying potential business partners.
  • Evangelize and socialize product or service solution strategy, vision and value proposition with internal and external stakeholders
  • utilize and gather market and industry research and analysis to inform strategic partnerships to strengthen the NWEA product portfolio.
  • Perform market needs analysis specific to business development opportunities that support product management and/or corporate strategies
  • Attend key industry conferences capture key takeaways and socialize with the product management and business development teams
  • Regularly interact with product user groups, industry leaders and the learning community to stay abreast of market trends
  • Completes additional projects and responsibilities, as appropriate
  • Travel as required, up to 40%

Education and experience

  • Bachelor's degree in education, technical or business discipline or equivalent experience; MBA or equivalent experience preferred
  • Minimum seven years' experience in product management, business development, product development, product marketing, business analysis or related discipline
  • Domain knowledge and demonstrated understanding of the area of emphasis and the educational marketplace
  • Knowledge of and experience with educational assessment
  • Knowledge of Pragmatic Product Management framework preferred
