Position Information

Seeking a skilled and motivated individual for quality control and preparation of DNA samples for sequencing in a research-dynamic, genomics service laboratory at the Institute for Integrative Genome Biology. The IIGB Genomics Core serves the UCR, state, and national research communities.

This is a temporary, full-time position with a possibility of career status depending upon permanent staff scheduling.

Minimum Requirements

1) Undergraduate degree in the biological or physical sciences.

2) Two years of laboratory experience and hands-on skills in molecular biology including DNA isolation, PCR, electrophoresis, and standard lab equipment (including spectrophotometry, plate readers, centrifuge, etc).

3) Ability and enthusiasm to learn methods required for DNA library construction and use of advanced lab equipment.

4) Excellent oral and written communication skills.

5) Facility with computers (PC) and standard software (Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook)

Preferred Qualifications

Three years experience in laboratory molecular/biological research.

Experience and comprehension of experimental approaches in biology.
