Shift

Current hours are for 12 hour shifts (day shift is 6a-6p, night shift is 6p-6a). Shift schedule is three 12 hour shifts one week and four 12 hour shifts the next week within a two week pay period, with every other weekend required. May vary. Shift differentials do apply for weekend work and 3p-7a hours.



Job Summary

This position maintains, installs and operates equipment at Heating/Cooling plants at the University of Kentucky.

Primary responsibilities include: maintains proper steam pressure and chilled water temperatures; operates and maintains boilers and associated equipment; feeds coal into boilers; maintains a uniform coal bed; removes ashes and empties coal accumulation; fills and drains boilers; lubricates, operates and repairs equipment; responsible for maintenance and operation of chillers, compressors, towers, pumps, and auxiliary equipment; cleans evaporator and condenser tubes; keeps job site clean; may try to resolve certain problems independently; assists training other employees and may assign tasks; responds to emergency situations and other duties as assigned. Will require working overtime as needed/requested.

Training may be provided to interested applicants with sufficient prior experience (power tools, machinery, HVAC etc).
