Tenure Track Faculty Member in Elementary Science Education

The School of Education (SOE) in the College of Science and Mathematics at California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo, is seeking applicants for a full-time, academic year, tenure track assistant/associate professor in Elementary Science Education beginning September 12, 2019. (ABDs with an anticipated completion date before 9/12/19 will be considered). Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The SOE is searching for a candidate to join highly-collaborative teacher educators. The successful candidate will teach K-8 science education and general teacher education in an elementary teacher preparation program and possibly MA courses in Curriculum & Instruction. This individual will also engage in scholarly activities, continuous program review, collaborate with higher ed and K-12 partners, demonstrate strong commitments to teaching and professional growth; and provide service to the University, state and local education agencies, and relevant professional organizations.

Candidates selected through this diversity cluster hire will be given $10,000 in start-up funds to support their work in diversity and inclusion. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Doctorate in Science Education/related field. Evidence of or potential for active research agenda. Evidence of excellence in teaching or potential excellence in teaching K-8 science methods courses to pre/in-service teachers, and general education courses in elementary teacher education program. Teaching experience at the K-8 level with diverse populations of students.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Hold a pertinent teaching credential. Experience supervising teacher candidates and working with emergent bilingual students. Ability to integrate technology into instruction. Experience developing and participating in collaborative endeavors with K-12 schools.
