Position Summary: This role involves developing and enforcing Environmental Health and Safety policies, managing hazardous waste reduction efforts, and conducting safety surveys to ensure compliance with regulations. Essential Functions:

5% Generate, prepare, and submit all necessary reports to the appropriate agencies. Maintain all files necessary to satisfy audit compliance.

Complexity &amp; Creativity: 
This position requires quite a lot of analytical, technical and creative thinking. One must have a good working knowledge of OSHA and TOSHA safety regulations, EPA and TDEC environmental regulations, NFPA and NEC fire safety and electrical regulations, some building code regulations such as placement of fire sprinklers, elevator regulations, and construction safety. Excellent observation skills are required to determine compliance with these regulations. The ability to plan for and manage resources and funds related to the position.
A fundamental knowledge of physics, chemistry, biology, physiology, statistics, mathematics, computers, engineering mechanics, and industrial processes as they relate to the Environmental, Health and Safety position.
Ability to track safety metrics (see 4a) and regular reporting and interpreting of metrics to management for awareness and decision making; Ability to write reports, track data, develop and deliver high-quality presentations, communicate via email, keep track of tasks, appointments, and contacts using a personal computer.
Ability to communicate successfully with all levels of faculty, staff and students to build a safety culture in order to reduce incidents and injuries and reduce Workers’ Compensation costs, as well as to oversee all Workers’ Compensation (including Lost Time and Return to Work) and General Liability claims.
Ability to attain and maintain OSHA/TOSHA, NFPA, EPA/TDEC, and ADA compliance in all operations through the development and performance of audits for compliance with regulatory agencies.

Magnitude of Impact: Errors in the EH&amp;S position can impact departments all the way up to the president. Mishandling of hazardous waste can impact the environment, incur fines, and bring bad publicity to the college. Accident and injuries can cause harm, result in lost time, and have a heavy financial impact.
Responsibility for Accuracy: OSHA log errors, Workers’ Compensation reporting errors, and clerical errors in emails, reports and presentations. Most errors should be caught by review of the employee. Frequency of verification should be at least monthly. Errors could result in violations and fines by regulatory agencies. These types of errors are not very likely and would have a minimal effect of the performance of the position. I recommend that the school institute a system of checks and balances to verify data on a regular basis. This position should help develop that system.
Financial Impact: This position is directly responsible for loss of material and financial assets through damage caused by neglected testing and training of emergency or safety equipment; loss of financial assets due to fines and penalties imposed by regulatory agencies due to noncompliance, loss of financial assets due to litigation pertaining to safety related incidents.
Budgetary: To assist in planning a budget for safety and environmental-related purchases. This position does not have signing responsibility, but must have a good understanding of the purchasing process. This position provides estimates for safety and environmental-related purchases; this position has some input in planning large purchases in the EH&amp;S Dept. N/A on budget amount.
Judgement and Decisions:
Communication to employees, vendors, contractors concerning safety audits and concerns. Communication with local, state, and federal inspectors concerning safety audits and concerns.
Training topics, training presentation materials and schedules; audit observations and schedules; vendor service schedules. Most interactions with administrators, maintenance personnel, Campus Police personnel, instructors, and students concerning safety training.
Decisions should be reviewed by the Supervisor and supervisor kept informed of activities in weekly meeting.
Nature of Contacts: Contractors (waste, fire alarm and sprinkler, building security systems, electrical, housekeeping, environmental monitoring and abatement, equipment inspection and repair); vendors (safety supplies, software); colleagues at other schools and other businesses. When attending events, it helps to network with others in similar positions so as to help each other.
Physical Demands: The ability to walk, climb stairs, climb ladders, stand in one spot for a period of time to observe practices, sit for long periods, drive for long periods, travel out of town as needed. Manual dexterity is required to use a keyboard, to write, to turn pages, to work with equipment, to handle small items, to open and close doors. Lifting is usually minimal, but the ability to lift up to 50 pounds could be required.
During training there are questions, during audits there are observations which may require the ability to hear words, and/or equipment noises; some training may be computer-based. A reasonable accommodation could be made for someone with limited or no hearing.
Many observations are made during audits, requiring excellent or corrected eyesight.
Some indicator lights are colored lights, so it would be beneficial to see color.
Conditions might include extreme heat, extreme cold, long periods outside, long periods inside, working in a wet environment, working in a loud environment, working in a dusty environment, working in dimly-lit areas, working around smoke.
Hazards: Slips, trips, falls, cuts, auto accident, or injured by equipment or chemical/bio hazards. The probability of injury is very low as long as one is aware of hazards and takes steps to reduce or eliminate the hazards; one must have good situational awareness to the surroundings.

This position will ensure that all content is engaging, accurate, and tailored to the needs of our entrepreneurial audience, featuring small learning segments and adaptive learning pathways.Position DescriptionContent Strategy:<ul><li>Work closely with the Foundry Project Director, product managers, and other team members to align content with project objectives.</li><li>Coordinate with the technical team to ensure seamless integration of content into the platform.</li><li>Maintain strong relationships with external content creators and partners.</li><li>Develop and implement a comprehensive content strategy to drive learner engagement, retention, and growth.</li><li>Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in digital content creation and management.</li><li>Explore and implement innovative content formats and delivery methods to enhance the learning experience.</li></ul>Content Development and Management:<ul><li>Develop, curate, and manage high-quality entrepreneurship education content for the Foundry platform, including modules, lessons, videos, and interactive materials.</li><li>Oversee the editorial process, including content planning, creation, editing, and publishing.</li><li>Manage the content within the Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring it is up-to-date and easily accessible to learners.</li><li>Review and edit content for clarity, accuracy, grammar, and style. Maintain an editorial calendar to ensure timely and consistent content delivery.</li></ul>Learner and Venture Progress Tracking:<ul><li>Design and implement systems to track the progress of learners and their ventures.</li><li>Develop mechanisms to monitor and report on learner achievements and milestones.</li><li>Integrate assessments into the curriculum to evaluate learner progress and outcomes.</li><li>Develop adaptive learning pathways to personalize the learning experience based on individual learner needs.</li></ul>Performance Tracking: <ul><li>Ensure all learning materials meet high standards of quality, accuracy, and relevance. Implement and manage content review and approval processes.</li><li>Perform user testing and audience analysis to identify content needs and preferences.</li><li>Monitor and respond to user feedback to continuously improve content quality and effectiveness.</li><li>Track content performance metrics and analyze data to inform content strategy and improvements.</li><li>Prepare and present regular reports on content performance and learner engagement.</li></ul>This role is also responsible for other duties as assigned.&nbsp; Basic Qualifications<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Education, Communications, Instructional Design, or a related field required</li><li>5+ years of experience in educational content creation, management, or a related role, preferred to have experience in entrepreneurship education.</li></ul>Additional Qualifications and Skills<ul><li>Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.</li><li>Strong understanding of content strategy and digital learning principles.</li><li>Proficiency in content management systems (CMS) and digital publishing tools.</li><li>Experience with multimedia content creation (video, audio, interactive media).</li><li>Excellent organizational and project management skills.</li><li>Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.</li><li>Familiarity with edtech or digital learning platforms, specifically Learning Management Systems (LMS).</li><li>Previous experience working at a startup is preferred.</li></ul>Competencies: <ul><li>Creativity: Ability to develop innovative educational content ideas and formats.</li><li>Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy, quality, and consistency.</li><li>Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data and use insights to drive content decisions.</li><li>Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with diverse teams.</li><li>Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously.</li><li>Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.</li></ul>Additional InformationThis position is approved for a 2-year term (with possibility of renewal/extension) which begins on the person's first day of employment. This is a hybrid position which we consider to be a combination of remote and onsite work at our Boston, MA based campus. HBS expects all staff to be onsite 3 days per week and departments provide onsite coverage Monday – Friday. Specific hours and days onsite will be determined by business needs and are subject to change with appropriate advanced notice.
