Title: Accounting Associate

POSITION SUMMARY
The accounting associate performs a variety of accounting duties in support of the daily operations in the Office of Student Accounts and Billing.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepares daily cashier reports, enters cash receipts for approval, performs data entry and processes student accounts transactions. Tracks payment plan accounts for past due balances. Oversees collections of delinquent accounts and prepares and processes write-offs of uncollectable accounts. Processes third party contract payments. Reconciles accounts on a monthly and annual basis. Processes fee waivers.

Prepares and reviews financial and other reports. Assists office administrators with various tasks and special projects. Scans departmental records to the document management system. Accepts payments, answers the phone and responds to emails. Tests system updates/upgrades. Cross-trains in other office tasks to facilitate general knowledge of overall office operations.
Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Technical Certificate or associate’s degree

Two (2) years’ accounting experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with account reconciliations

Ellucian/Banner experience

Experience working with automated processes

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of basic accounting principles, theory and practice. Intermediate computer skills required, including proficiency with spreadsheet, word processing and cash receipting/accounting applications. Familiarity with basic business English and Mathematics. Ability to apply accounting principles to routine transactions. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Effective decision-making and problem-solving skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to balance competing priorities and juggle multiple assignments simultaneously. Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with a wide range of individuals, both internal and external.

Rate of Pay: $37,186.50 - $44,635.50 depending on experience
