Reporting Relationships
Reports to: Dean of Health Sciences
Supervision Exercised: None

 

Job Summary
Teach assigned classes, within the Dental Hygiene Program in the Dental Hygiene Clinic.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Additional related duties may be assigned.

 

1. Plan course content and assign appropriate course work.

 

2. Select appropriate texts and teaching materials.

 

3. Meet classes at assigned times.

 

4. Instruct students in the proper use of lab equipment where appropriate.

 

5. See that equipment and/or labs are properly maintained where appropriate.

 

6. Participate in assessment of student learning.

 

7. Maintain student records, evaluate student progress, and assign grades.

 

8. Maintain office hours convenient for students.

 

9. Prepare course/class reports as required.

 

10. Attend required meetings (faculty, division, in-service training, etc.).

 

11. Assist in placement of graduates when appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications

 

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Dental Hygiene

 

2. Illinois Registered Dental Hygiene (RDH)

 

3. Five years of current clinical experience in a Dental Clinic as an RDH

 

4. Flexibility in work schedule.

 

5. Interest in serving a diverse student population

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

1. Knowledge in educational methodologies

 

2. Experience teaching in a Dental Hygiene program

 

3. Experience with Dentrix patient software

 

4. Experience with digital x-rays

 

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a classroom, office, clinic, and lab setting.
