Position Summary
The Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support to the Graduate Medical Education programs at Laredo Medical Center. This position coordinates residency program activities, maintains records, and ensures compliance with accreditation standards. The Administrative Assistant position reports to the Director of Graduate Medical Education.

This position works out of the Laredo Medical Center located in Laredo, Texas.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft 365 programs and Google Drive.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal, written, and interpersonal.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • High level of accuracy and thoroughness in managing records and processing information.
  • Strong ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
  • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.


Required Education
Associate degree, or equivalent, in business administration, healthcare administration, or a related field.

Required Work Experience
Minimum of two (2) years of administrative experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, healthcare administration, or a related field.
  • Experience in a healthcare or academic setting.
  • Experience with residency program coordination or graduate medical education.
  • Experience organizing and coordinating events, such as interviews, orientations, and meetings.
  • Experience with VPNs and residency management software (New Innovations, MedHub, etc.).
  • Bilingual skills in Spanish language.

Work Hours
Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm with earlier or extended hours as needed to meet departmental goals and of the learning community.

Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift up to 15 lbs of office or event supplies.
  • Ability to actively engage in events for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to regularly move about campus and event venues to actively engage with others, as well as attend meetings on and off campus.
