The Department of Textile Engineering, Chemistry and Science (TECS) at NC State University is seeking dynamic and talented candidates for a tenure track faculty position at the assistant professor level with a preference given to synthetic polymer chemists with strong backgrounds and interest in polymer synthesis, structure-property relationships of fiber-forming polymers, polymer recycling and sustainable polymers related to the textile industry. The successful candidate is expected to teach polymer chemistry courses in the Polymer and Color Chemistry (PCC) undergraduate program and fiber and polymer science courses in the Textile Chemistryand Fiber and Polymer Science graduate programs, as well as establish a robust research program with a focus on sustainable polymers. A typical faculty load in TECS is 45% research, 45% teaching, and 10% service.
Teaching: The TECS Department seeks enthusiastic instructors who have strong passion for teaching in polymer chemistry and fiber and polymer science. The successful candidate is expected to be creative, dynamic and effective in engaging students in the classroom coupled with a student-centered learning approach. The primary teaching responsibilities would be on polymer chemistry and fiber and polymer science courses in alignment with the PCC, TC, and FPS courses. Furthermore, the successful candidate is encouraged to develop new courses and be able to articulate a vision for modern undergraduate- and graduate-level polymer science curricula. Relevant undergraduate courses include PCC 106, 442, 461, 462, 464, 471; relevant graduate courses include TC 561, TC 565, TC 771, and FPS 770
Research: The TECS Department seeks prolific scholars who can demonstrate strong potential for establishing and sustaining a robust and world-renowned research program. The successful candidate will be expected to secure internal and extramural funding and to disseminate research findings in top tier peer-reviewed journals as well as conferences at the local, national, and international levels. Preferences will be given to candidates who have strong scholarly research records in polymer synthesis, structure-property relationships of polymers, polymer recycling and/or sustainable polymers related to the textile industry
