Located in Greater Boston, MassBay is a comprehensive, open-access community college offering associate degrees and certificate programs on three campuses in Wellesley Hills, Framingham, and Ashland, Massachusetts.

Position Summary:

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for teaching and promoting success among a diverse student population. Faculty members are responsible for developing educational and evaluation materials consistent with the philosophy and framework of the program, MassBay Community College. The faculty member is responsible for maintaining expertise in the discipline.
 

MassBay seeks an enthusiastic, collaborative professional full-time, tenure track Business faculty to teach first and second year business courses. The successful candidate will take an active contributing role in the Business and Professional Studies Division and teach a full-time (approximately 15 credit hours per semester) schedule of business courses which may include courses in business, marketing, management, economics, and/or hospitality management or interior design at our Wellesley Hills, Framingham, and/or Ashland campuses, and online as assigned. Classes may also be held at regional high schools and regional employers and other off-site locations. 
 

MassBay's Department of Business offers degree and certificate programs in General Business, Business Administration, International Business, Marketing, Management, Entrepreneurship, Interior Design, and Hospitality Management. These programs are designed to provide students with an in-depth education that will advance their career and/or further academic goals. 
 

We are looking for a committed individual who will advance the College's mission by delivering high-quality business-oriented programs and courses that feature engaged learning and curricula aligned to the regional industry needs. Our ideal candidate will bring a passion and commitment to teaching, advising and shared governance. The candidate will demonstrate a solid understanding of a community college’s role in workforce development, and a commitment to diversity and inclusion as well as ability to positively influence, advise, mentor and work with diverse student populations. 
 

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Teach courses at the Wellesley Hills, Framingham, and/or Ashland campuses, and/or other locations and online as assigned, including classes regional high schools and regional employers and other off-site locations;
  • Prepare course syllabi and develop curricula to meet course and program requirements and student learning outcomes;
  • Develop or revise programs as needed to reflect academic and industry needs;
  • Serve as academic advisor to students;
  • Post and maintain a minimum of four (4) office hours per week;
  • Serve on College committees as elected or appointed;
  • Attend Program, Department, Division, Faculty and Committee meetings;
  • Participate in assessment of course and program learning outcomes;
  • Use technology effectively to communicate with students and colleagues and to enhance classroom learning as appropriate;
  • Engage in professional development activities to maintain excellence in the discipline and in the classroom;
  • Carry out other related duties as assigned by the Dean consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

  • Engage in conversations with colleagues and students regarding best practices within the discipline or programmatic related to equity and inclusion.

Required Qualifications:

  • Earned Master’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Management or related field from an accredited college or university is required (transcripts will be required of finalist candidates);
  • Two or more years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience teaching relevant courses, preferably in a community college setting;
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body;
  • Strong interpersonal skills. 
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Sensitivity and commitment to the goals of Affirmative Action and workforce diversity;
  • Experience working in a diverse environment;
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with underserved students;
  • A doctorate degree;
  • Prior experience teaching online courses;
  • Community College teaching experience strongly preferred;
  • Knowledge of community college academic programs, services and culture;
  • Proven ability to work effectively with diverse, multicultural, and non-traditional students;
  • Fluency and/or experience teaching in Spanish and/or Portuguese;
  • Effective use of materials and assignments that develop the writing and critical thinking skills of students and integrate the cultural wealth each student brings to the classroom.

Additional Information:
 

Salary Range: $56,190 - $62,837, in accordance with one's education and experience as dictated by the collective bargaining agreement classification compensation structure.
