Position Summary
The Department of Nutrition invites full-time faculty candidates for tenure-track Assistant Professor in Nutrition within the School of Mathematics, Science, and Engineering to begin Fall 2025. Full-time faculty at UIW are expected to teach four courses in the fall semester and four courses in the spring semester. Note that a 3-credit hour release is given to the Dietetic Internship (DI) Director.
In all matters, faculty are expected to maintain the highest standards of professional ethics consistent with the UIW Mission. Official duties and responsibilities of faculty members at the University include teaching, scholarship, service and professional activities.
Essential Functions
- Serve as the Director of the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND)-accredited Dietetic Internship.
- Manage all aspects of the DI Program including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Maintain compliance of the DI Program with ACEND standards, including data tracking, evaluation, reporting, and site visits.
- Collaborate in ongoing evaluation of undergraduate and graduate nutrition curricula, and implement program revisions, as necessary; participate in advancement of the program.
- Prepare course outlines based on approved departmental syllabi.
- Prepare and deliver consistent, interactive undergraduate and graduate nutrition courses (in-person, hybrid, or online) in areas of teaching experience and expertise in nutrition which align with curriculum goals.
- Work collaboratively with departmental faculty to ensure curriculum outcomes and accreditation standards are met.
- Prepare timely and meaningful exams, projects, and assessments for assigned courses.
- Advise and mentor assigned undergraduate and graduate students in assignments as well as completion of projects and research; provide individual assistance to students during weekly office hours.
- Serve as the Graduate Nutrition Advisor, Student Dietetic Association (SDA) Advisor, Introduction to Nutrition (NUTR 2341) Course Coordinator, and/or other position(s) as determined by departmental needs.
- Identify and justify needed equipment and resources for the food and nutrition laboratories and their maintenance.
- Conduct independent research, including the development of a research agenda with grant proposal writing to support it.
- Collaborate on interdisciplinary projects in the community and with professionals from other fields.
- Adhere to UIW Faculty Handbook policies and processes including timely record keeping of student activities, fair and equitable evaluation of student performance, and timely feedback to students regarding their performance in the course.
- Conduct respectful relationships with faculty, staff, and students both in and outside the classroom.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education
Earned Ph.D. in Nutrition or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution. Note that ABD candidates with expected completion by date of assignment will be considered.
Required Work Experience
- Three (3) years of professional experience in the field of nutrition and dietetics as a RDN.
- Prior teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate level, to include evidence of effectively delivering courses preferably in a variety of modalities (face-to-face, hybrid, online).
- One (1) year of clinical practice post-credentialing.
- One (1) year of experience directing an ACEND-accredited dietetics program (DI or other).
Preferred Qualifications
- Teaching experience in nutrition science, food science, nutrition education and counseling, nutrition and human performance, and/or medical nutrition therapy at the collegiate level.
- Three (3) years of practice as Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist (RDN).
Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
- Credentialed as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
- Active membership in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
