SUMMARY:

Incumbent is responsible for assisting South University in attaining admissions goals, in particular inquiry conversion to enrollments, and enrollments to new student matriculation at plan. Incumbent must assure that the South University philosophy is considered in carrying out the duties and responsibilities of this position: quality services to clients; development, growth, involvement, and recognition of employees; sound economic principles; and maintenance of an environment which is conducive to innovation, positive thinking and expansion.

KEY JOB ELEMENTS:

  • Oversee the admissions vision, strategy, operational plan to deliver on both the short and long term new student and, if assigned, re-entry recruitment goals.
  • Oversee hiring of all enrollment staff, maintaining staffing plans, development, motivation, and ongoing management of such staff including monthly, quarterly and annual reviews; new hire and veteran training; ongoing observations; turnover prevention via training and support.
  • Establish forecasts and ongoing measurements to assure new student and readmission plans are successfully achieved.
  • Carry out conversions of inquiry to applicant, new student average registered credits, re-entry process for returning students and student referrals.
  • Monitor the admission department’s budget and inquiry source results and cost effectiveness.
  • Partner with Training to ensure new hire and on-going training meets the standards necessary for success in recruiting students without compromising our goal of meeting the highest ethical standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all education standards, the highest ethical standards, and compliance with all federal, state and accreditation requirements.
  • Other Duties as assigned. 


JOB  REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • At least 10 years experience in managing a sales effort, preferably as a Director of Admissions, and school-related sales for all external applicants.  Internal South University Director of Admissions will be considered with 5 years of experience.
  • Sales management/selling intangible product experience in lieu of school sales will be considered.

Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with supervisor and staff populations.
  • Superior organization, prioritization, and self-motivation skills.
  • Strong computer literacy skills with the Microsoft Office Suite.

Abilities: 

  • Ability to interact effectively as a member of a team and work collaboratively with other departments.
  • Ability to inspire, motivate and lead a sales team.
  • Ability to listen to customers (e.g. students, staff, etc.) and to understand and respond positively to their requests.
  • Ability to work without close supervision and to set one's own priorities and work schedule.
  • Ability and desire to travel to school sites. Travel is 80% of time if assigned to oversee ground campuses.
