Associate Technology Support Specialist - Gies College of Business

Job Summary

The IT Partners Help Desk team provides direct network, communications, hardware, software, and classroom support of the instructional, research, and administrative functions of Gies College of Business (and other campus units supported by Information Technology Partners).

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Hardware support
    • Work with faculty and staff to support administrative, instructional, and research technology environments, including hardware, printing, communications, and security access.
    • Assist with purchasing and installation of hardware IT systems and products.
    • Provide user assistance with desktops, laptops, monitors, and facilitate warranty or replacement services if required.
    • Advise customers on use of varied computing and communications hardware.
  • Software/systems support
    • Provide user assistance with campus supported software.
    • Provide support for college specialized software.
  • Classroom/facilities/event support
    • Troubleshoot and resolve A/V issues pertaining to classrooms and conference rooms (including projectors, computers, and other AV equipment), digital signage, and classroom recording for college spaces.
    • Provide ad-hoc training for faculty/staff on equipment in classrooms or conference rooms.
  • Network support:
    • Provide user assistance with wired and wireless network connectivity.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.• One (1) year of work experience in IT‐related functions such as hardware/software support, programming, network design, network engineering, IT systems integration, or closely related field. College coursework which includes Information Technology (IT), IT Management, Programming, IT systems, or a closely related discipline may be substituted as follows: 30 semester hours equals one (1) year, Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen (18) months, 90 semester hours equals two (2) years, Bachelor’s Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years).

Preferred Qualifications

•Experience with Windows operating systems and related hardware
•Experience with Apple operating systems and related hardware
•Experience with enterprise-level endpoint management solutions (such as MECM/SCCM and Munki/Workspace One)
•Experience in the use of Microsoft Active Directory

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate and professionally interact with all staff levels and customer groups
  • Ability to identify and resolve technical problems
  • Ability to demonstrate fundamental knowledge of effective troubleshooting methodologies
  • Knowledge of the systems and operations used within the units supported by Information Technology Partners
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities
  • Ability to complete most work with limited supervision, appropriately judging when to seek assistance or guidance from subject experts or management

Appointment Information

This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5032 - Information Technology Support Associate position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon aspossible after the search close date. Salary is competitive and commensuratewith qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity. Thebudgeted salary range for the position is $50,000 to $60,000.  Professional development and other advancementopportunities are also available. Sponsorship for work authorization is notavailable for this position.
