Position Information

Hiring Department: College of Health Science, Deans Office

Posting End Date: Open until filled. This posting may close once a sufficient number of qualified applications have been received.

Hours: 40 hours per week, standard Monday- Friday. Flexibility is seldomly required on evenings and weekends

FLSA status: Non-exempt

Earliest Start Date: As soon as possible.

Salary: $25,044 annually.

This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code §51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. A valid driver's license issued by the State where the applicant resides and insurability as defined in UTS 157 may be required to perform the position's essential functions.



Purpose of Position

Responsible for assisting in teaching and supervising personnel who perform research and prepare materials in the field of audio-visual communications

Essential Functions

Plans, organizes, conducts, conferences, workshops, demonstrations, meetings, and classes concerning the application and utilization of audio-visual methods, materials, and devices.

Initiates projects, promotes utilization of materials, and conducts research in the audio-visual field.

Advises and assists in the selection, production, and supplying of audio-visual materials.

Participates as contributor and consultant to professional organizations and publications.

Originates public relation programs concerning audio visual communications.

Produces or directs the production of audio-visual materials.

Represents the department at meetings.

Helps plan the scheduling use and maintenance of audio-visual equipment.

Troubleshoots and performs minor repairs on equipment.

Trains personnel.

Complies with all State and University Policies.

Other duties as assigned.



Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree within area of assigned responsibility. Bachelor's degree within area of assigned responsibility.

Experience: Three years related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Occasional travel is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Computer knowledge within area of responsibility preferred.

Preferred certificates, licenses, and registrations within area of assigned responsibility.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routing reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Additional Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Include:

Strong knowledge and ability to track and resolve client trouble tickets via phone, remote, and desk-side technical support to users in the areas of e-mail, directories, standard MS Windows desktop applications, wireless connectivity, and related network connectivity.

Possess the capability to resolve client trouble tickets onsite in an independent manner.

Provide personal computer support and audio/visual, problem analysis, and hardware/software installation and configuration.

Knowledge and ability to work effectively with helpdesk ticket entry and tracking systems

Ability to work on special installation/configuration projects while managing assigned trouble tickets.

Review and evaluate requests to identify conference requirements and recommend plans for proposed Zoom/MS Teams by determining appropriate room, audiovisual, and presentation techniques and operational requirements.

Operate live Zoom/MS Teams sessions as required, meet all security policies and procedures, and properly close out sessions when completed.

Monitor Zoom/MS Teams equipment performance from the AV control room for the duration of the conference or meeting as required.

Able to provide AV support at events during work or after hours.

Excellent customer service skills in daily customer interaction to ensure productivity; provides individual feedback.

Able to speak, read, write, and understand English.

Able to train or instruct users/students on best practices to complete a technical task.

Be lawfully employable in the United States.

Possess a valid (State) driver's license and a good driving record.

Valid and current CompTIA Security+ or CompTIA Network+ Certification a plus.

Valid and Current Windows 10 Configuring or Windows 10 Certificate a plus

Person shall be capable of moving equipment such as computers and monitors, portable TV monitors, and equipment of similar size and weight, not to exceed 50 pounds. Other related tasks instructors shall be exposed to are recurring activities such as bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or lifting items such as computers, printers, monitors, and boxes of cables or misc. items.

Ability to prioritize and to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet, professional manner. A skill for attention to detail and accuracy is imperative. Able to meet deadlines. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent organizational and analytical skills. An A+ Certification, Net+ Certification, and/or Windows 10 Certification is a plus.
