Job Summary

 

Responsible for the development and implementation of bridge programs aligned with Pathways for high school students completing their junior and senior years. Serve as a liaison to regional K-12 School Districts and other agencies related to this position and Rock Valley College. This position will coordinate the registration, orientation, advising, and tracking of high school students enrolled in Rock Valley College courses as bridge program participants. Responsible for the overall marketing and recruitment efforts of bridge programs, including but not limited to summer program academies in Manufacturing, Engineering, and Allied Health. This position will also work to develop and execute the Summer Manufacturing and Readiness Technology (SMART) Camp program for middle school students.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Additional related duties may be assigned.

 

1. Cultivate and maintain effective professional partnerships with College departments, regional K-12 districts, and other organizations.

 

2. Work with internal and external stakeholders to support efforts in offering new and expanded bridge programs, to students from regional K-12 school districts served by Rock Valley College District 511.

 

3. Promote efforts to reduce barriers for students enrolling in bridge programs and/or transitioning from Early College programs to Rock Valley College.

 

4. Attend College advisory committees and councils relative to bridge program and transitional coursework offerings.

 

5. Create and maintain bridge programs information for K-12 partners, community, and program participants.

 

6. Market bridge programs and offer information sessions to high school counselors, students, and families.

 

7. Collect and verify that all admission requirements and course pre-requisites for bridge program students have been completed.

 

8. Review participants’ bridge program applications, as necessary.

 

9. Engage and support students enrolled in bridge programs through coaching and advising on college requirements and expectations, technology access, career exploration, and Pathway continuation.

 

10. Register bridge program participants into their respective RVC coursework.

 

11. Monitor bridge program courses in collaboration with academic departments and the Registrar.

 

12. Collect high school course rosters for transitional classes and work with Records & Registration to ensure placement waivers are appropriately applied.

 

13. Track access, academic success, and matriculation metrics of bridge program participants, including students enrolled in transitional coursework at their high school, and provide regular reports to the Dean of Early College.

 

14. Contribute to grant summaries and reports.

 

15. Assist Early College team members with administrative duties, programs, projects, and some clerical functions.

 

16. Assist with tracking and reporting of other Early College programs.

 

17. Aid in the advising and registration of Early College students, as needed.

 

18. Assist with updating Early College departmental resources including publications, policies, and department website.

 

19. Support and participate in Early College programming, events, and services, including events hosted in collaboration with external partners (i.e. CEANCI).

 

20. Lead marketing and recruitment strategies for established Pathways partnerships.

 

21. Partner with Admissions to transition/matriculate students to RVC upon completion of their Early College program.

 

22. Maintain confidentiality with student records, files, and correspondence as required by the Federal Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

 

23. Establish familiarity with Dual Credit Quality Act and ICCB Administrative Rules governing dual credit, among other state legislation and best practices related to Pathways, etc.

 

24. Regular attendance is expected.

 

25. Use tact and courtesy to establish and maintain professional working relationships.

Minimum Qualifications

 

1. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution required. Master’s Degree preferred.

 

2. Previous experience in Secondary Education, Career & Technical Education, Higher Education, College Student Personnel, or related field preferred, or equivalent education/experience.

 

3. Strong interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, and enjoy working with high school and college students.

 

4. Proven ability to work successfully as part of a team in an educational setting.

 

5. Effectively interact with a diverse population of college students, faculty, and staff.

 

6. Excellent organizational skills, oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work well under pressure.

 

7. Bi-lingual proficiency in Spanish highly desirable.

 

8. Valid driver’s license.

 

Work Environment

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office setting. Travel to and from facilities is required.
