Position Description

The BSCP Communications and Alumni Relations Coordinator is responsible for developing, creating and implementing communications and marketing strategies to promote the Biomedical Science Careers Program (BSCP) and its initiatives; acting as point-person for the Alumni Committee of the Board of Directors and serving as support to the Executive Director in the management of this committee; managing the newly launched Alumni Network and engaging, maintaining and strengthening relationships with alumni members of the program; and enhancing the organization’s presence and impact through community outreach. This role requires the management of a diverse array of tasks including content creation, design of promotional materials, event promotion, alumni engagement, and community outreach. The position will work closely with the entire BSCP team; and will report directly to the Executive Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and implement communications and marketing strategies to promote organizational initiatives; analyze marketing and communications tools and trends
  • Write, design and edit organizational materials including What’s Happening newsletters (monthly distribution), brochures, flyers, power-point presentations, programs books, and reports for internal and external audiences; works closely with the Assistant Director of Operations and Programming and the Program Coordinator to align scope of programming with materials.
  • Manage BSCP’s three social media platforms, design content, manage social media strategy and calendar
  • Collaborate with Senior Website and Database Coordinator on website content and branding as it aligns with marketing of initiatives
  • Brand management across all materials and communications
  • Collaborate with Associate Director of Development and Donor Relations on communications strategy aligning with BSCP’s development campaigns including but not limited to Evening of Hope
  • Serve as the principal contact and liason for the board-appointed Alumni Committee and support the Executive Director in designing and enacting committee’s vision
  • Implement strategies to engage, maintain and strengthen relationships with BSCP alumni; including but not limited to managing, planning and organizing events, biennial Alumni Conference, educational programs and networking opportunities, and promoting volunteering opportunities within the organization, and maintaining Alumni Network LinkedIn page.
  • Manage all budgets related to alumni events to ensure cost-effect use of resources and funding allowances.
  • Along with Database Coordinator, track alumni participation, contact information and engagement levels in Salesforce database
  • Manage the BSCP Hope Scholarship and Vertex Scholarship Programs. Maintain regular communications with recipients, track educational status, achievements and contact information, maintain scholarship balance reporting and coordinate funds disbursement
  • Collaborate with Database and Website Coordinator, who serves as the student liaison, to build and maintain partnership with community organizations/programs, schools, summer programs and other stakeholders; track and assess the effectiveness of community engagement activities and prepare reports on impact for internal and external audiences.

Basic Qualifications

4 or more years of experience.  Higher education may count towards experience

Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred

Work Format Details

This is a hybrid position that is based in Massachusetts. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. All remote work must be performed within one of the Harvard Registered Payroll States, which currently includes Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Washington, and California (CA for exempt positions only). Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
