Job Summary 
Assist in the successful resettlement of eligible new arrivals in the Refugee Social Services (RSS) grants. Lead the Services to Older Refugees (SORS) program which is a component of RSS. Assist in aligning translation and interpretation services to participates as related by grant guidelines. Assist in the daily and ongoing needs of participants enrolled in the Refugee Social Services Program. Determine eligibility and provide ongoing support and referrals. Working with employers to match new arrivals to appropriate employment opportunities. This individual will also lead the senior pre-citizenship class. Responsible for identifying clients eligible for the SORS program, and conducting senior needs assessments as required by the grant. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Related duties may be assigned. 
  • Work closely with other staff to provide instructions and information about programs.
  • Provide referrals, social service enrollments, and assistance in obtaining services as required.
  • Work towards performance standards for all RSS programs but give special attention to monitoring the Services to Older Refugees program standards.
  • Determine eligibility and provide intake with interpretation if necessary.
  • Set up plans for case management with ongoing goals.
  • Maintain and develop a network of other community services, especially those most relevant for senior participants.
  • Work with translators to provide services and effectively communicate with participants.
  • Attend programmatic meetings.
  • Develop employment plan with the program director’s approval, and in accordance with the grant.
  • Maintain regular documentation through case notes in accordance with grant guidelines and requirements, staying updated on any changes.
  • Attend trainings.
  • On a case-by-case basis, accompany participants to appointments.
  • Advocate for participants when needed including to access healthcare services.
  • Act as a resource for agencies, schools, councils, etc. 
  • Schedule participants for appointments with medical, dental, legal, education, etc.
  • Counsel participants in crisis and for daily needs, including public benefit enrollment and maintenance.
  • Show flexibility and understanding in dealing with persons from diverse, social, economic, and educational backgrounds. 
  • Accept appropriate additional responsibilities as requested. 
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Regular attendance is expected.
  • Use tact and courtesy to establish and maintain effective relationships with persons contacted in the course of work.

Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree required or equivalent experience with some college credits. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working with diverse populations, and or social services.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships (including with outside agencies).
  • Flexibility and ability to multi-task.
