Job Summary
UK HealthCare (UKHC) is a comprehensive healthcare system consisting of medical, nursing, health sciences, public health, dental, and pharmacy patient care activities at the University of Kentucky.
The Office of Corporate Compliance (OCC) was established in 1998 by the UKHC Executive Vice President for Health Affairs and the UK Board of Trustees to support the clinical enterprise. The OCC promotes a culture of ethics and compliance that is central to all of UKHC operations and activities; understands the nature of the risks and potential risks of UKHC operations and activities; and manages risks that may lead to financial, legal, and/or reputational loss.
The OCC is currently seeking qualified applicants for a Billing Compliance Auditor Associate position. Reporting directly to the Compliance Reimbursement Auditor Manager, the Billing Compliance Auditor Associate will assist the OCC team, led by the Chief Compliance Officer, in executing the corporate compliance program for clinical activity at UK. Those activities may include monitoring, auditing, tracking, reporting, investigations, training, and demonstrating effectiveness of the corporate compliance program.
The Billing Compliance Auditor Associate will support enterprise policies and support mitigation of risk exposure as it works to promote a culture of compliance and ethics. The Billing Compliance Auditor Associate will support the OCC audit team as directed by the Compliance Reimbursement Auditor Manager and OCC leadership team. This position will conduct reviews and audits of provider documentation of services in the patient electronic health record, in addition to other audits as assigned, and will assist in data entry supporting compliance program monitoring, tracking, and reporting.
This position will research relevant topics, issues, and questions presented by staff, faculty, and health care enterprise leadership and present findings to the audit team and supervisor. This role proactively seeks information on current documentation and coding guidance and trends as well as changes in applicable laws and policies. This position may conduct training for faculty and staff across the enterprise regarding audits and other compliance topics.
This is a hybrid position.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
The ideal candidate must possess CCS or RHIT and/or CPC certification and a strong understanding of complex requirements and regulations. This candidate will also have a high ethical standard, the ability to work in a team-based collaborative environment, high-level communication and leadership skills, effective business writing, creative thinking, and data analysis skills, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Preferred Education/Experience
Three years of experience in a health care patient billing or revenue cycle setting, including medical coding; strong written and verbal communication; experience with compliance and/or privacy issues preferred.
