Pay Rate: $39,760 - $48,830/per year. Pay will be determined based on related work experience above required. To be considered in determining pay, all related work experience must be listed on the application.

Position Summary: Provide support for installation, configuration, maintenance, and repair of all IT equipment such as but not limited to: Computers, Printers, Scanners, etc. and for related software. Consult and assist faculty and staff in determining appropriate hardware and software needs. Develop and maintain documentation for procedures, records, and inventory. Support computer lab environments to ensure our students gain the most benefit from our technology.
Essential Functions:
40% Installation configuration and maintenance of computer and networking hardware for the responsible departments, academic labs, academic offices and administrative offices.
25% Install, configure and maintain all computer software and hardware, create and maintain command procedures using appropriate procedures.
15% Assist and consult with technicians in other departments in replacing and upgrading software and hardware in computer labs, academic offices, and administrative offices.
10% Develop and maintain appropriate documentation including installation and maintenance procedures; maintain records such as software and hardware inventory, operation, and maintenance records.
5% Work with management and other technicians to ensure existing and future networked labs and remote branches are appropriately configured.
5% Consult with supervisor regarding administrative procedures and NTS department policy. Advise supervisor about potential conflicts of operational procedures and / or problems pertaining to technical issues in the assigned departments.

Key Results Areas: Keep college computers and peripherals in working, usable order. Provide advice to staff on software and hardware.
Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required. A two-year degree in a technology field is preferred.
- Two years minimum of on the job related experience in computer hardware/software installation and maintenance is required.
Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively and establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with internal and external customers is required.
- Customer service, organizational and prioritization, and complex problem-solving skills are needed as well as a working knowledge of computer operating systems and hardware.
- Able to engage in the college’s mission and values.

Part-time work experience is calculated at 50% credit of full-time work experience.
Complexity & Creativity: The business-sensitive nature of the specialized applications used in the business and executive offices require technical knowledge of methods to secure desktops and related network transactions as well as an understanding of the policies, procedures, and, state and federal regulations governing PCI compliance, PII information, and other sensitive information.
Magnitude of Impact: Immediate. If a problem cannot be resolved by the technician, a supervisor would be called upon to intervene.
Responsibility for Accuracy: Errors in hardware/software setup could greatly affect the availability of equipment to students as needed. Critical in all departments, but especially in the Testing Center that also services community users
Financial Impact:
Responsible to maintain accurate records for inventory control of all the computer/networking equipment in the departments. The computer technician is the first level defense against equipment theft and or misplacement.
As part of this job a technician must act as a consultant. We are asked by the academic departments to evaluate existing computer hardware/software and give a recommendation as to whether it would be better to upgrade existing equipment, or replace the equipment with new hardware/software. Many times the technician is tasked with researching specialized equipment, and to give a recommendation, on what would be considered the best price to purchase or replace computer software/hardware based on his knowledge.
The technician is tasked with keeping accurate maintenance records on computer software/hardware in order to make good judgments as to when it is most cost effective time to repair or replace equipment.
Judgement and Decisions: Decisions on when we need to do updates and when we can install new computers or software and also recommend software and hardware to faculty/staff
Nature of Contacts:
Daily interaction is necessary to resolve computer hardware/software problems and act as a consultant for researching and making recommendations concerning computer hardware/software and networking equipment. Occasionally discussion is necessary to resolve conflicts between faculty members concerning software configurations, and or equipment upgrades.
Daily contacts are made with other departments in the college that include, but not limited to the audio visual, facilities/building maintenance, IT systems manager, and Network Manager. On occasion a technician will be required to work with people in other departments within the college in the event there is no one available to from that department to respond to requests for assistance. A technician will be required to assist other technicians in other departments as needed as well. In this instance, all of the other technician’s contacts will be utilized as well.
On a daily basis, a technician is required to contact hardware/software vendors to verify shipment, obtain license files, obtain documentation, troubleshoot technical issues, and resolve conflicts between the engineering department and outside vendors.
Physical Demands:
Lifting at least 25lbs. Computers, monitors, printers and pushing carts full of equipment.
Hazards:
There is a lot of exposure to lifting on a regular basis. Some printers and other equipment require more than one person to lift. A person doing this job will most definitely suffer some degradation of vision due long hours of staring at computer screens.
